Thank you Artemis for the info on removing the blocking plate (flap).

I had my installer return the 1M with the installed (but muffled) Akrapovic exhaust system and I was confused as hell as to why the system sounded so unremarkable.

After taking it back and showing Figure 27 on Page 34 then having them grind that piece off to get air flowing to the outer tips of the exhaust, the unit sounds amazing and I am so happy of the upgrade.

Thanks again!

Check 00:47-00:48 of the video below (removal of the welded blocking plate of/off the connecting pipe):

But beware: by grinding off the welded blocking plate you void the EC Type approval:

Just installed in my 1M the Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust + Akrapovic Downpipes.. I choosed not to buy the valve, so I went to "always open mode" by breaking the welded part. No CEL light and no regret so far!
And it roars like a beast!

Feco, after installing the whole system, did you have to remap your car or everything worked as normal?

Alternative Akra Slip Exhaust tips

Hey everyone! I'm getting an Akra Slip On without tips as their high cost just bugs me. I know this subject is old and tired, but has anyone found a replacement tip that's not a like these carbon fiber knock offs from Hong Kong? (If you scroll down after following the link, you'll see where the seller shows available sizes including 60mm inlet/89mm outlet, I think the same size as the $1200-$1400 ones from Akra directly.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/193294722166

I'd prefer something other than carbon fiber. I could be happy with basic black or polished chrome, spent a long time searching but can't seem to find anything reasonable available from a seller in the US or elsewhere that will work. Kinda weird. I suppose I could go without but that seems a shame. Thank you!

Hmu - we have different guys offering something that could fit your needs in Germany. I would be willing to place the order for you and get them shipped to the US. Shouldn´t be too expensive.
