Also, if looking at the pics, which side goes on the inside (i.e. closer to the middle of the car) and which goes on the outside (towards the wheel)?

No, there is no need to align after these are installed.

These are TRW branded, not genuine BMW M parts.

Which makes the most difference between replacing stock rear guide rods versus rear upper links with M3 equivalents?

I have M3 rear subframe bushings, Quaife LSD with 3.46 final drive, and running Extreme Performance tires. There is a fair bit more torque getting transferred to the suspension arms now especially with stage 2 agressive tune. Perhaps not as much as would be the case with R-comp tires though. Just trying to prevent some bending back there, and toe out during hard accelerations ...

M3 rear guide rods. The upper link doesn't do a whole lot, other than taking away some flex and shave a bit of weight off. The bushings are the same.

I am looking at the M1 rear guide rods wondering does the kit you sell for $360 comes with rods for both sides? So all four? Is the ABS brackets included? If not can the original from my 135i be used?

Just had the securing bolt snap on the passenger side causing a lot of damage and wondered if this kit would provide a stronger alternative to the standard rods.

Here is the TRW alternative, which is the same as BMW:

It's only the guide rods, that is one per side of the car.
