JB3/1.3 Map 7
Has anybody tried Map7 on the latest version of the JB3/1.3 Rev4..
Have had the upgraded version of the JB3 for about 4 months but have only activated Map5 and lower. I just gave it a whirl, praying not to throw up any engine or cel codes (as I haven't purchased the Bav Tech BMW Scan Tool as yet) and what a difference between Map5. Considering that they advise to use 95 Octane and over to avoid throwing codes with Map7 and we use 98 Octane in Oz, I had my fingers crossed. To think that Map5 takes your breath away, Map7 is amazing... The sheer acceleration in the rev range to red line is mind blowing. This car is a monster...that's all I can say.. |

I have tried map 7 for 2 weeks. Sheer acceleration all the way to redline. Very smooth feeling.
I love this map. No codes or problems when scanned wih BT tool. Im totally stock I went back to map 5 for daily driving duties. I plan to keep my car longer so I did not want to run map 7 all the time. Will be map 7 at the drags though. |

If there was any problem it will have been discovered by BT tool and 1000s of other JB3 users. I ran it on map 7 hard constantly for 2 weeks in all types of conditions. Did not see any hicups, hesitations, limp modes. Always smooth and responsive. I wouldnt mind trying a procede if they are priced more competative and actually have tunes/maps that are good as the JB3 maps. Plus Shiv comes about as a bit of a douche on e90 post. Take the higher ground and let your product speak for its self. More people will take you seriously. I dont buy products from people who act as kids in a playground, shouting mine is better than yours etc. |

Map 7 should put a stock N54 around 350-360whp and approx 14-15psi at WOT. You can run map 7 but I personally wouldn't do it full time without supporting mods, especially once summer rolls in. You are relying heavily on the DME to control knock/timing and there's a chance you could be getting minor knock, although this won't actually throw a code it's not ideal for engine longevity. Maybe I am just being too cautious??
Shame you are in Sydney, would be keen to meet up, shoot the breeze and compare the feel of the two tunes, as I am interested myself to see if they feel that different. |

Your fairly new to the forums, suggest you let be your friend and look at the history of how Terry developed his tune. If your really interested in the proceed shoot adrian@vishnu a pm, he's based in Sydney and would probably be more than happy to give you a run in a V3 equipped 135 which is one of their development cars. Very down to earth guy. |

And I have done a lot of researching regarding these tunes. What I have found is that E90 post seems to be very biased towards the vishnu product. I dont think this can be disputed, so it is very hard for a new person to get an unbiased opinion. This is the way I view it, and many new comers to this forum will probally see it when they look at E90post. Like everything you have to sort through the bullsh!t and make your own judgement. Talking about tunes on this forum is like religion, you get fanactics/extremist on all sides. Will never have peace. For my case, I have made my bed with the Burger Tuning product and after 8 months with it, I find it to be a great product. It suits my needs and price point. If I was to ever need the extra features I will certainatly hit up Adrian for sure on a demo. So far our banter has been very civil which I find great. Just would like to say, Im not trolling and starting tuner war here. That can be left at E90post. |
