Rear PDC?
Hi
can anyone comment on what the rear visibility is when reversing with the top up of the convertible? Here in SA, PDC is an option and i am trying to decide if its a must? any comments? |

Hmm I better see if I'm not too late to add it onto my order then! It's the one thing I never thought of trying when I test drove lol
Mind you the 1 series hatch also has a tiny rear window and I've managed ok hmmm

I'm not a fan of the PDC, and I have a convertible. I don't think it's a must, it was just included in the package I got. If you're already used to seeing out of a tiny back window, you should be fine.

After resisting it for years ("just keep backing 'til you hear glass"), I find the PDC to be very helpful and easily worth the money - especially on my 'vert.

I do not have PDC. The view to the rear is just fine, IMO, but I came from a Pontiac Solstice which had really awful blind spots with the top up. Also I don't often park in tight, inner-city parking decks, which I assume some of our members have to frequently do. If you were to compare convertibles for their top-up views I suspect the 1er would be better than most.
The right outside mirror automatically angles down on my car to give a nice view of the curb (think that's a premium package option). This is helpful for me because I back out of my driveway angling to the right and there's a police officer who lives across the street who parks his squad car on the curb there. I sure wouldn't want to bump into that! Funny thing about 1er converts is that the view over the left shoulder with the top up is actually better than with coupes because there's no B pillar. When you glance over there it is just wiiiiide open.
