Approximate Installed Aero Kit Cost

My 135 M-Sport will be arriving soon. I'm considering the performance aero kit (front and sides). I'm curious about the total installed cost. According to BMW's site, once I specify my dealer for the kit, it gives me an "installed price" of only $1296. The "price" for the parts is $1172. These are listed as "primed". I've read people paying upwards of $1500, just for the installation. Is this big difference the painting cost or something else I'm missing here? Otherwise, what should I expect to pay total? Thanks!

I paid a reputable BMW oriented body shop ~$1,300 to paint and install my aero kit (front and sides).

They quoted the standard R&R and paint for the parts, so it should be pretty consistent. I could've had the parts painted for ~$850 and the BMW dealer install it for ~$500, but it seemed less complicated to not transport the painted parts between locations.

You'll probably find that no one has experience with the aero kit (dealer or body shop) so whoever you choose to do the install, give them the BMW installation manual (attached to this message). I had to email some dude at bmw.de to get them.

Also be aware that the BMW instructions aren't entirely accurate. It contradicts itself in a couple of places. For example, it mentions that certain parts aren't included in the 135 kit, then has installation steps for those parts specific to the 135. The term "guide" should be taken literally, and you should have a discussion with the installer to verify kit parts and visualize the installation.

I've been thinking of getting an OEM aero kit as well. the only thing to watch out for when configuring a buy on a dealer's site is the 'air duct kit' for the 135i.... it will run another 350 or so.

Since you don't have possession of your car, you should have it installed upon delivery. you should be able to talk your way into a 20% discount on parts. IMO 2500 installed and painted is more than acceptable. talk it down by telling them that you'd willingly talk them up amongst the enthusiast community.

no wait, let me be the devil on your shoulder. do what I wish I did: buy and install a performance exhaust and suspension on top of what you're already thinking.

Drive off the lot hooked up. OEM style.
