Removal of OEM Side Skirt

Hey All,

I just scratch my passenger side (right) side skirt hitting a sidewalk. It's about 1 foot long.

Few questions.

Is there a DIY for how to remove this? Are the bolts that are used to fasten it resuable, or do I need to get new ones?

Is it better to have a place take off the paint off this one and repaint it, or is it better to just order a primed one and have it painted. The parts not that expensive, only $102 according to realoem.com

How much do you think it will cost to get this painted to factory spec?

To remove the side skirts, there are several plastic push pins on the bottom which need to be removed. You can use your torx screwdriver to get them started (to put on, u just push them in). Then clips on the side hold those skirts in. You just pull hard to remove the plastic skirt.

Those yellow plastic pieces you see on the ground are mounted on the side skirts. Those pieces push into the green inserts you see on the car's side.

Hey Frogman, still amazes me the quick response from this community. You really can't buy this kind of service. So for removal and replacement, I don't have to rebuy any of the clips or screws/fasteners it looks like. Do i just have to put the yellow plastic pieces back on and snap the skirt in and and push the pins back in? Sounds easy enough.

Now have to see if it's better to take the paint of the existing skirt and have it repainted or get a new one.

Also, is the Paint Code for TiAg 302?

It is always great to see that others have done it or know how. You're right about being able to come here is better than looking at a book or lack of a manual. Good Luck!

Sorry, by the time you posted this question, I had already left my house.

I believe you can reuse the clips, but keep in mind that I took my OEM side skirts off to install the new M-Tech ones. So I'm not 100% sure. If others on this forum have any input on this, please chime in!

Maybe a better option for me is to buy it from someone that has replaced there side skirt of an mtech one. Long you know anyone that has done this witha TiAg.

I just got my car with 3000 miles from a private seller. I noticed tonight that the skirt is not flush with the rear passenger door. I'm guessing i should start by pushing in on the area where those green holes are and see if it snaps back in? It doens't look damaged, so maybe it just popped out over a bump.

Just try pushing it in. Sometimes a hard jolt can knock a clip loose.

You can try pushing that part in, but my guess is that the clips may have come off the side skirts. It might be best for you to remove the side skirt, make sure the clips are fastened securely to it, then push it hard into your car's side after carefully aligning the holes.

I had planned on doing this during installation, but it was so hot on that day. I was anxious to get this installed as quickly as possible without passing out from heat exhaustion.

The best I can do at the present time is to refer you to the photo thread I made:

http://e90post.com/forums/showthread...tech%2Fm-sport

Some of the photos show the disassembled pieces, which might help give you a better idea of what to expect when you're dismantling. The installation is fairly intuitive. Just make sure you set aside ample time so you can take your time. Don't force anything. You'll need a set of torx screwdrivers and, of course, metric sockets.

Thanks ksfrogman! I am thinking of getting the factory-painted M-sport kit...

Is the M-sport fog lamp comes standard on the M-bumper? or is it an extra?

will 2007 OEM side skirts fit a 2008 E90 335 sedan?

I hope there is someone out there than can help me, I need to replace a damaged/scratched side skirt and need to know if the 2007 and 2008 are interchangeable?

Thanks in advance
