Of course jelaousy play a part in haters and cops and work enviroments and relationships...etc... But its a inappropriate question to ask in a forum... and to be frank..BMW's are a target for haters...and you don't have to be rich to own one....so his point is mute... |

i think stealing our cars would be more hassle then most....unless the people stealing it had the key....with the chip in your key it would make it tough for them to obtain another one...im not sure would hotwireing work on this car like other cars?

My 1st post.
That wasn't that bad. I do understand your frustration though. I live in NYC and a few years ago I had a 2006 GS430 and it was getting keyed randomly nearly every month. Eventually I had to get rid of the car because I was spending between 400 to 800 every time it got vandalized to have it repainted. Again it wasn't any single person's vendetta against me, it would happen at random times and places. This city sucks for new car owners. I believe the number of incidents as this will continue to rise given the current state of economy. The widening gap between the rich and the poor will not help the situation. Just yesterday on the news they were saying fuel tank pirates are drilling holes in cars to steal gas. At the moment I do want to purchase a 135i cabrio but memories like this turn me away from buying a new car. |

The only way to steal a BMW is to load it on the back of a flat deck truck. These cars cannot be 'hotwired'.

I walked out of a theater once and found a greasy bucket of KFC and chicken bones all over the hood of my GTO. I was pretty pissed off at first, but it wasn't scratched (very greasy, but not scratched) so I didn't get crazy. Not much you can do in these situations really, but if I had walked out and witnessed it happening I'd probably have wound up either in jail or the hospital, depending on how big/how many.

Why not just park with the crowd like normal people and maybe the car won't stand out as much?
If your THAT concerned with door dings, buy a beater. Life's too short to worry about material possessions.

One could argue that life is too short to work hard for things only to let other people de-value them. |

Yeah, but life is also too short to stand 24hr/7day vigil over said prized possession only to prevent such things from happening.
I know this because I used to be one of those types. I learned...if you park your car away from the crowd, 10/10 SOMEONE will park next to you by the time you get back which usually results in a door ding. If you park your car away from everyone else in a busy parking lot in a venue such as a movie theater or shopping mall, you're car will stand out and usually the types of people that go to such venues don't really have respect for other people's property.

Creepy thread. Man I guess I've been lucky.
Doesn't feel like a young kids car as much as they might think to be marketing to those folks. I imagine most are middle aged guys like me who saved for 20 years and decided to treat themselves. This car scares me and that is a very good thing. |

Movie theater parking lot on the weekend would be a likely place to have your car messed with. Really you've gotta be careful of any place where little shitbag teenagers hang out, because 9/10 times it's the 15-19 year old boys who think that kind of crap is cool or funny.
Another place to avoid parking your car is parking garages near bars/clubs on the weekends. Dudes when they get drunk revert back to about 15 years old too. |
