I like what Dinan does to let you have one of their badges. You have to buy a certain amount of their upgrades which turn into points and (if I'm right) if you get 10 points, your worthy enough to own and have their badge placed on your car. I think it's a win win for both sides, consumer have tuners badge on car AND has the upgrades to prove it, Dinan has LOTS of money from the consumer for just a badge . Anyway I feel that the ///M badge would be cool IF you had the engine, drivetrain, ect. to back it up, cause from some ppl the ///M badge means more than cosmetic. It's like mustang owners putting a GT-R badge on their car:

Don't be a douche like this guy (that knows nothing)

Here is another El Douche Bag-o example. Clearly a plague not 'limited' solely in the BMW camp... The guy on the right has not a single thing linking his Audi with an RS model (other than the lame badge of course)...

///M stands for BMW MOTORSPORT...

I think it is safe to say that anyone with a 135 or even a 128i is a motorsport enthusist.
This being said I would say go ahead and slap that ///M badge on! all we are saying is that we like performanc and speed! i think it adds a nice touch!

Your car - do what you want.

But be prepared to explain and justify yourself on a regular basis, especially to owners of ///M cars.

The license plate holder is borderline. You're not claiming you have an M, but it seems a little desperate - "I wish I had an M"

Ok i remember an old post that said M-Sport has the following:

M door sills
M footrest
M gearshift lever
M steering wheel
M wheels
Available with an M exterior color
Anthracite Headliner (not available on Convertibles)
Aerodynamic package
Shadowline Trim
Sport Seats
18” M wheels Style 261 M

How much of this is accurate? I would ask the CAs at Vista (South Florida) but they dont know anything

First of all there are a few misconceptions that need to be addressed in this thread:

1. M on the steering wheel and shift knob comes with the Sport package. The M package has a few more additions.

2. There is a very marked difference between having a lone "M" badge versus a "M" badge with a number after it.

I had a M-sport 1999 E39 when I lived in Germany. It came from the BMW DEALERSHIP with a lone "M" badge on the car....there are various other autos I have seen in German dealerships with the badge as well...it denotes a M-sport packaged car....Why don't they do that in North America? Well it is because North Americans are badge snobs. The "M" logo is NOT sacred, if it was they would not put it on non-M vehicles...but that little number 3, 5, 6 IS sacred.

I saw a 2009 BMW 135i with M-sport package today. It didn't have an M logo on the door sills, at least I didn't see any, nor did it have an M logo on the shifter (auto transmission) and the foot pedals looked plain (I forgot to look at the foot rest). I did see the M logo on each wheel, but I was disappointed that the M logo was not placed in the center of each wheel but rather placed next to the center, so it looks awkward - like an afterthought. I do like the M-sport wheels though; they give the big Brembos room to breathe.

"M" labeled wheels have had the logo placed "next" to the center for years.

So based on your observation initital reports were wrong and the M-Sport actually has...

M door sills
M footrest
M gearshift lever
M steering wheel
M wheels
Anthracite Headliner (not available on Convertibles)
Aerodynamic package (Only 128i)
Shadowline Trim
Sport Seats
18” M wheels Style 261 M

People who drive ///M cars think that it is a completely different kind of car.

I would put an ///M badge on the back of my car, but aspire to have much better parts and performance than ///M crap...

I'm not in favor of adding any badge that didn't come factory-installed, with the exception of Dinan or some other aftermarket tuner.

I *am* a fan of debadging, for various reasons.

Understood, but adrean8j put it exactly right - basically it is BMW itself that puts the "///M" all over the car with the M Sport Package. It is indeed where the above posters indicated.

At least for me I simply finished what the company started - unified the LP frame/rear of the car with the rest of the car. And, yeah ... unified the carpet/mats with the door sills/interior.

And everyone's MMV.

I don't see why a license plate frame is a big deal? It's not a designator for the car. Changing the "135i" to an ///M I would say is not my cup of tea. But a license plate frame is kind of like a bumper sticker...it just says that you like the ///M components your car has, IMHO. Guess I shouldn't order my ///M valve stem caps...
