Here is a translation of the article:

A violent fight takes place in my head: a part of me cannot find 135i the coupé nice. The proporties are not correct, but nevertheless have BMW's smallest coupé something. Time what the depth to dive into.

[ Firstly look at reading then? Click further for the small film of the BMW 135i coupé. ]
There we sat wait for: still 1-serie variant. After the three door and the five door seemed the men from Bavaria it, however, a malicious idea also still a coupe variant in living of blowing. In my perception the sum was as follows: 1-serie + a kont = 3-serie. According to the marketing masters at BMW appears that however this way not to be. 3-serie a coupé is expressly positioned above 1-serie the coupe. Illogical? Not real, 1-serie the coupé has been first of all developed for the American market, because those remain at their ancient point of view: "we don't because no stinking hatches."

For the Dutch market the tale is what is more illogically compared and certainly as 135i with 335i . 135i the coupe is only something smaller and (in the basis version) only 6000 euro cheaper. You 1-serie coupés compare both the diesel with similar 3-serie equivalent, then the relative difference is a piece larger. On the list of 1-serie the coupé shine thus two potent those awls: the 177 pk strong 120d and the 204 pk strong 123d. 120d the coupé is 37,050 euro and with that 2.5 mille more expensive than the three door 120d. you a maatje larger want and 320d sedan or coupé want then reduce the remainder of your bank account respectively with 43,450 or 47,150 euro.

Enfin, such a fantastic file of the machine if BMW do not assess you of course on the price, but on external. The front of 1-serie the coupé seems surprising particular enough much on 1-serie and with that can this my approval, however, carry away. Then that back: nicely the correct description is not. The first meeting with 1-serie the coupé had not succeeded: badly the first word was what in me rose. Happy is that feeling is not, however, gone, but really fraai 1-serie the coupé and call profil certainly. 135i the coupé is, however, nice dik, because finished factory these have already equipped with M-sport a parcel. Except a tighter (M) sport onderstel 135i also m. gets aerodynamics exterieur parcel and sport Len. Such as to potent achtewielaandrijver the rear wheels belongs be larger (245/35R18) than the voorwielen (215/40R18).

To let we look at then once to driving. Of 1-serie some "hardcore" autoliefhebbers became enthusiastically enormously, even 120d it was already labelled as the ultimate file of the car. THE BMW 1-serie have certain its charm; relatively small, not already too heavy, rear-wheel drive and fine engines. What people can itself wishes still more.

X35i the engine is (confusing enough) only 3.0 litres large, but get free two turbo's as a plaster on the wound you or. The 3.0 litres twinturbo are thus a bit stronger than its atmospheric brother, total zes-in-lijn 306 to the pk and 400 nm provide cross-belt. Effortlessly this block-system provides its strength, in nearly every acceleration stand a lot of nm's for your ready. Not for nothing BMW with 3.0 the twinturbo won the price for the best new engine block-system of 2007. Some critical point: you feel how much effort the engineers of BMW have had do the turbomotor high toerentallen let twist. That has almost succeeded, but go for a ride after 6000 is it nevertheless improve to change gear. At real toerenmotor (such as V8 from M3) you can get still once verkering with the toerenbegrenzer, but with x35i seems that to the possibilities of belonging.

BMW have fortunately done something to the tractieproblemen which know 1-serie. You would expect that rear wheel-operated 1-serie easily to overstuur would let seduce itself (subject to the elektronica is eliminated). During our test of 120d appeared that nevertheless to disappoint: 120d relatively rapidly tractie on its interior lost rear wheel. That gives as much as a hope smelled, but not desired breaking out the back nor can make you speed/preserve in the turning. For more potent 1-serie now electronic sperdifferentieel available where the interior wheel is slowed down exactly enough to parry loss tractie, are. For 135i works that system more than well enough.

In spite of m. sport under couple and electronic diff is 135i the no messcherp driving motorcar. Vering and demping offer zowaar a heap comfort and in that sense has 135i the coupé the more character of GT. Real hardcore sportieveling on the basis of 1-serie (coupé) do not sit according to BMW, 1-serie the concept tii was only teaser. With the performances of 135i is moreover nothing wrong: the sprint to 100 can be taken off in 5.3 seconden. Until on 250 km/u top speed continue the dubbelgeblazen limited six cylinder nicely drag. The one 250 km/u are not moreover the other, at M3 appeared that 273 km/u are whereas 135i the coupé found 258 km/u enough.

The interieur is recognizable BMW: netjes but not flamboyant. The black lederen lining and aluminium sierlijsten of tested 135i is perhaps even tikkie insipid. Voorin are zat space and sit there you deliciously on the divine sport Len. In the back of zit you very well as long as people slide voorin their chair forward. With that 135i with me behind the wheel driezitter become or the fourth passenger must no legs has. Very wide 1-serie the coupé is not, but that the future purchasers (rightly) will be a sausage.

A conclusion to draw concerning 135i the coupé is difficult: the difference with 335i it is seen rationally small and the difference in weight has been also limited: 135i 40 kilogrammes barge are. 135i also something is smaller, but especially complete differently than 335i the coupé. More wildly, more impractically and not average. Nicely therefore.

quoted from the early section of the translation -

this math is curious

1-serie + a kont = 3-serie.

what exactly is a "kont" in this context :eyebulge: ?

"Oh, what a relief it is".

My, and others here, hand wringing over the eDiff is beginning to look MUCH less pertinent.

You don't need an LSD of any sort, "e" or trad, to put down a solid 2-wheeled burnout, especially on a flat, even friction coefficient surface. Any Mustang or Camaro will prove this with ease [not to mention my tuned Cooper S]. Just sayin....
