With the success of the sale it was determined to do a permanent price reduction of 25% off of the pre-sale price. Hence the odd-ball end pricing.

Perfect. Honestly, the only reason I have not had this done yet was the pricing, well, that and the car is currently in storage till spring.

The 'dead technology' comments are from the MHD side of the house. I get their point, but they are very vocal about backing 'the new hotness'...

So, Dinan S2 pretty much evens out the 135i and 135is since its probably the same tune, right?

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying, but I think the answer is no.

The difference between the 135i and 135is: 313 rims, performance exhaust, PPK tune, and some aluminum interior trim pieces. Has nothing to do with Dinan.

I think he means in terms of performance. Is PPK + S2 the same as just S2?

If you're talking hp and torque:

135is - 320hp 317 lb-ft torque (manual & DCT)

Dinan Stage 2 for N55 135i & 135is - 355hp 401 lb-ft torque at peak

In just hp/torque numbers, DS2 promises more gains than the PPK. So, in theory, the 135i + SP2 would have better numbers than the 135is that has PPK installed by default. Of course, S2 from Dinan doesn't require the inclusion of the extra oil cooler as specified by the PPK requirements (option code SA 840).

PPK = +20 hp / +32 Torque (automatic transmission) or +17 Torque (manual transmission)

DS2 = +55 hp / +74 Torque (max values)

And coming from myself who had the PPK (more specifically the PPK stage 2) on my 135i, the overall driveability of the S2 is vastly superior to the PPK. The car with the S2 tune is so much more enjoyable to drive. If you look at my post giving my impressions of the S2 tune shortly after having it installed, I said this tune really should have been the one BMW programs from the factory. I'm not even talking about the horsepower gains. Just the smoothness of the throttle delivery to me makes the upgrade worth it. The HP gains are just icing on the cake. Others have said the same thing about the throttle characteristics after the S2 tune.

Yes, you won't get any more power applying the DS2 to a 135is because it overwrites the factory tune leaving both models with the same gains.

Dinan Stage 2 for 2011-2013 135i = SKU: D900-31T
Dinan Stage 2 for 2013 135is = SKU: D900-31T

Same tune. Same end result. Overwrites PPK tune, but retains PPK sounds.

Just an update... if i turn off traction control, the burbles are back :-)

Traction control must change something in the tune (N55 specific), as Cobb has stated in its OTS map notes.

And I'm glad the question above got clarified - I didn't quite get it.

I hope that's sarcasm.

The 50% off sale was on for February only. Looks like they've permanently reduced their prices 25% from their pre-February prices.

Yeah...that's not how supply and demand works, bud. Like just about anything else in life, early adoption comes at a cost. It's why older model computers and cell phones drop in price as time goes on -- demand falls over time. Not sure what to tell you...
