Lightweight wheels in stock sizes??
Are Breyton GTS-Rs the ONLY wheel out there available in stock sizes? (18x7.5F/8.5R?) I'm trying to find a decent lightweight wheel for Autocross D-Stock which requires that I have the same size wheels as stock.
I like the Breytons, but I hear they aren't very durable? Are there any other lightweight options in this size? Or is it just Breytons or OEM wheels?

It's not the best situation, but if you're not put out by storing wheels you could simply use the breytons for only your events. The knock on Breytons as i've heard is they're a little brittle when it comes to pot holes and the like, but do not have issues being pushed hard on track (or parking lot in our case)

I would be using race tires so they would be only used for the event. If that's the case, they are still an option then, thanks.
Anyone know the weights of the normal 135i (non M-Sport, 5 spoke) wheels? Edit: Found it - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207786 Front 24.2lbs Rear 26.2lbs Heavier, but still an option, they should be a lot cheaper.

In the same boat as you.
Wish someone would step up and make some stock sizes for us D-stockers, but I guess there isn't that much of a market. 17-18 lbs isn't too heavy for an 18" wheel. The Breytons should be reliable . . . seems like all the cracking is due to impacts. Only thing I'm going to hit on course is a bunch of cones. |

Speaking of Cone-Killing, i'm pretty sure i've yet to do the magical cone hit where it flips in the air and still lands upright in the box...
But i watched a gt3 porsche hit the same slalom cone six times, with three nudges that stayed in box, 2 magic flips, and only one penalty. Does porsche have cone mini-nudge technology? |

Actually, it 3 autocrosses, I haven't penaltied yet (my 16 year old co-driver, not so much). I'm not taking it easy either . . . I used to hit cones like they owed me money in my Civic. I guess the high seating position gives you a better feel for the car's dimensions. /threadjack . . . sorry. |
