+1 in a big way.

Don't be bullied by how other people perceive you, have the strength to make your own decision and stand up for it.

I never understood why anyone like that flappy paddles. It just sh@ts me as I can never work out what gear I am in and how many gears I have shifted up or down! That said, the manual box in the 135 is not particularly good, but fun and involvement wise still beats the auto imo.

I do think DCT is way better than PDK in term of speed and rev matching.
Clearly you haven't driven a C63. It shifts way faster than the 135i in manual mode and rev match too. Much much cleaner shifts than the 135i and feels much more like a DCT. I hear the X5M auto is a bit like that too.

Having said that Totti, the 135i auto is very good. I've only had one experience in it (Taka's car) but it is great! Don't worry about what others say, it's for you. Just for some consolation, the 135i auto does faster drag times than the manual!

I drove the DCT in a 335i 2 weeks ago, and frankly, not sure what the fuss is about? I have the auto 135i and the shifts were just as quick. Maybe I got a dud 335i? But either way, it made me so happy to know that my 'auto' felt as good if not better.

I am also not sure why you really 'need' to know what gear you're in with the flappy paddles. You can see which gear you're in on the display on the tacho, plus you can see/hear how high it is revving.

I have been on my honeymoon for a week and a bit now and am mising my car... hahaha!

Thanks for comments guys, much appreciated.
I knew peer pressure will get into you. The car is just as fast if not faster in the auto. And it downshift with throttle matching, and it is like me driving manual and heel toe.

Obviously it is all down to personal preference. For me I just don't like to have to look at the tiny display on the tacho to work out what gear i am in, and I can't hear it as my stereo is too loud! Anyway, this is just me. The OP of course should just buy whatever he likes.

Agree, completely.

The car is phenomenally well-sounded for gear revving.

I also find the read-out is actually pretty damn clear - just a quick glance down and i know where i'm at if i ever get lost.

BMW has a great auto.

The one thing about the auto I never liked is that it doesnt show you what gear your in before you put it into Manual mode. I learned the car's shift points, but I still will accidentally downshift out of the powerband on occasion, just because I thought I was in 6th shifting to 4th. But I was actually in 5th shifting to 3rd.

I quite like the DCT on the 335i, it is extremely quick and I am surprised BBK didn't like it. No loss of drive while changing gears was great. It is only milli seconds, but I found it quite fun.

I used to drive a step, and I never need to look at which gear you are in because you can tell from speed and engine sound.

I picked the manual because it is more involved nothing to do with the performance. However, the auto is still fun and quicker. Really, these days, it is pretty much a personal preference.

.
It was a convertible, maybe that had something to do with it? Although you would think the shifts should be the same no matter how heavy the car is?
