Stunn2Night,

yeah i have those on my 135 part of the Comfort Access Feature. Honestly i can't see the use or purpose of this light since the door handle is large enough to be found in the dark and it's not 1985 where we are trying to find a keyhole at night. To me it's just a vanity thing. But i'm sure since it's available on the 1 that it should make things easier to install it; just the wiring you'd have to figure out to get them to light up.

I'm pretty sure they're part of the Premium Package, not CA.

Did Dan say it may work? I'll be up for it if he thinks the connections will be there.... I sure hope so! I really like the "look" but didn't want to fork out the extra $$ for the premium pack.

There's only 1 way to find out if you're "brave" enough. Since I'm saying that...I declare I am not. $58, worst case, you can re-sell it to a more electrically savvy 1addict later.

Hi guys, yesterday I retrofitted the doorhandle LEDs.
First you need the LEDs and the doorhandle covers.
The LEDs and covers are easy to install because the cables are already mounted in the doors.
Sadly, there are no cables from the doors to the lightunit. Your favorite BMW mechanic will help you with that problem.
After that you need to get your lightunit reprogrammed with the codes that activates the LEDs.
With all this done you should be proud owner of a 1-series with retrofitted doorhandle LEDs. I am very happy with the result but for most people this would be a very expensive modification. My local BMW dealer said that this installation would probably cost me 1000 euros(!). Lucky for me I have inside connections

I'm a bit confused by that statement. Is there a cable within the door that hooks up to the LEDs, but does not run to a lightunit (module)? I'd like to do this, but want to make sure all OE parts are used. Is there a different wire harness that is needed as well to make this work?

I think it looks real good when its really dark out and if you have tints like I do the windows are pitch black and all you see is the car light up where the handles are and where the license plate is and it looks real nice at night when its dark but, I wouldn't think of ordering them separate if I wouldn't have gotten the premium package.

sorry for the thread jack but BBS CHs are probably my favorite wheel ever. However the front wheel offset looks pretty bad, maybe it's just the angle of the pic. The puddle lights look very cool!

agreed, it's not like most of us have difficulty finding the darn door handle but visually, it's fantastic.

First time I showed my car to all of my friends and coworkers at night, one of the things that stood out and attracted a lot of attention were the door handle lights

I know everyone seems to love it especially the girls. Don't know why. Must look cool or something.

I think it's just one of those cosmetic things for cars that add a little something extra to it. It's totally unnecessary but let’s face it, when you use ur car key to unlock the car and all those lights flash on, those door lights do stand out. They scream out “Here’s the door, come drive me!”
