Looks like TRW as the logos are scrubbed.

Yep. Another thread on this or another forum had a response from TRW stating they were the exact same parts as BMW's and not seconds/rejects/cast-offs, so no worries. They ,TRW, just can't sell product with the BMW logo so this is their solution to selling replacement parts directly without having to make new dies.

It's just OE vs OEM. The former being parts that have been vetted by BMW, the latter being ones that have not.

It's up to you what level of quality control you want/want to pay for.

Since TRW makes the parts for BMW on the same line with the same quality control, the only thing I'm not paying for is the (erased) logo.

BMW chose them as a supplier for a reason, and I doubt it's for producing inferior parts. I also doubt TRW would risk its reputation as one of the top 10 global suppliers of automotive parts by selling inferior product, too.

So, either the parts are legit, the op fabricated the email or a TRW rep lied.

As far as OE versus OEM (original equipment/original equipment manufacturer) TRW IS the OEM for the OE parts and even their (logo delete) products have to "meet or exceed" original equipment standards.

Thanks for clarification, I read something similar before purchasing.

That said, I'm just as confident using a product backed by TRW as I am one backed by BMW.

For the first time in my life, I'm going to pay/have someone else work on a car of mine (aside from oil changes). The various arms are easy and the rears are already in, but I just don't have the time for the rear sub-frame bushings, i.e. arranging for tool rental from HPA. My schedule through October is whack, and even a two week window for the tool is iffy for me.

We'll see how these guys do: http://www.performancetechnic.com/, appointment on June 28th.

Vacillating between Bilstein PSS10 and a Koni/Swift Spec-R combo.

Having thought that way when I initially got into BMWs and such, I understand where you are coming from. My experience has been the exact opposite of that sadly. Nearly every OEM instead of OE part I've used has proved to be inferior either immediately or over time.

At this point I don't bother with them.

I understand where your coming from and have been burned once or twice by parts that "meet OEM standards", but this IS the OEM so I'm not concerned. If BMW is confident in sourcing from TRW, so am I for the "identical" part.

Mine were OEM as well, just not OE.
