@mikal7 he's not high and mighty. He takes his non sport 128i for some track time quite often.

How do you boost a N52 to 300HP for $2k? and how do you do it with Zero decrease in reliability? $2k for 75hp is pretty cheap.

intake manifold-300-400
SS headers-1200(best price ive found) evolve tune-900 est to be 300ish crank hp. zero decrease in reliability because its an OEM intake manifold, the headers are only change exhaust flow, and the tune is simply optimizing all parameters on the engine within a safety limit.

The estimated 300 HP part is only per a few members here without any real objective data to back it up. Evolve's own dyno shows a 125i (already equipped with the 3-stage manifold) making 256 HP at the flywheel. I doubt SS's headers make +44 HP. In fact, Turner says to expect 15-20 HP, and they got up to 272 HP on a 325i race car with them (I think they were using the 3-stage manifold as well). This is becoming like a game of telephone.

Plus install labor, tax and shipping - probably sitting more around $4k.
And tuning up an engine up 75HP will decrease reliability. Significantly or not, you will experience more wear than the stock map. Im curious how a 128i with the mentioned mods would do vs a stock 135i. |

stock 130i=260bhp. tuned 130i=275ish bhp(both before SS headers). Evolve has said themselves that 125i's can't get to 130i hp numbers, but almost can. I'm unsure of this, maybe exhaust differences or just tuning things that cannot be altered on 125i's, but that's what i read on their website.

Doesn't matter which side of the argument you're on, it's simply futile to argue this further without actual dyno results.
Personally, I don't think my car will hit 300hp or bhp with headers, manifold, and a tune, but that's certainly not stopping me from going forward. |

My baseline is thursday, ill have the tune and manifold the end of this week into next week, i'll install them and run them on the car for a week or two, and get another dyno. Then eventually when i get headers i'll get another dyno done. I can also take the tune off to just get a manifold dyno, but i suspect many don't care much for that as much.

A local 135 guy is hooking me up with the shop he manage's dyno, many thanks to him. I won't be getting the headers as soon as expected, but eventually i'll be able to get them on and get another dyno. I"m curious myself what the numbers will look like. I do have an injen intake and a slightly modded exhaust, but at least it'll be something.
