Ottawa-reading codes
Other than the dealers and the indys, who can read BMW trouble codes. I have "service engine soon" (USA car) and would like to do repair if possible, ie: engine mis-fire is hopefully the coil pack.

most hand held readers won't pick up BMW codes, don't waste your money
any indy can scan the codes, usual suspect is the coil pack |

Northern Dancer: I like your handle!
And I am old enough to remember and to have seen the real Dancer (on TV) back in the day. So what's with all these military ranks? Weird. Jim |

Thanks for responses; years ago I bought the Peak tool for $150 approx and maybe used it once. Still in basement collecting dust. Being the older gentleman that I am, I have no knowledge of android, ios, iPad, etc so 2 strikes against me. I'll still try and hook up with someone who can pull my code for a small amount of money.

that is the best option,
OBD codes, for a lot of cars are standard there are some codes for BM which are "hidden" for want of a better word, the days of just getting a code from a cheap reader is numbered (ca$h grab) I had same issue, OBD code saw nothing, my mate's reader saw everything. I'm getting a laptop with the required INPA software so I can do that myself but I hear ya Quote:

Well code cleared itself today after a bit of a drive. A friend checked the code, looks like it was P0440 so something related to the emissions. Hopefully does not return.
