Can you freakin' believe this?!!

[IMG][/IMG]

I parked at the back of a parking lot away from everyone with only one available space on the drivers side of me and some piece of sh*t parked next to our car in a parking lot.

After a couple of hours of shopping (we were at the outlet center), we come out to find this little present. Obviously the door was opened with some force and of course, it broke the paint.

Of course, there was no car in sight and no note was left. I talked with security and there are no cameras on the parking lot and they say they are not responsible for any damage done to cars at their establishment.

Car has less than 1,500 miles on it.

God have mercy if I have ever find this guy!!

I can believe that it happened, I live in a very windy area and that shit happened all the time to my old car. But out of the way way in the back. It almost seems like someone did it on purpose. What an A!!

I feel you pain.

Sorry about your misfortune. As hard as it is to look at now, it will be fixed and you will forget about it later. Sometimes I really dislike people in general. So many people don't even respect their own possessions so they surely will not respect the belongings of others. That is why I try to teach my children to respect and take care of their own items. Also, as bad as it sounds, don't park anywhere near a dirty car that is driven by a fat person.

You know, I usually park away from other cars when I can help it, but I honestly believe that some people feel compelled to try and take you down a notch when they see a "fancy" car parked off all alone like that. It's bizarre. A few times I've had folks oddly close to me when I was parked away from everyone else. Never had damage, though. The only other thing I can think is that some sort of herd mentality is going on and people are sort of magnetically drawn to park next to solitary parkers for some reason, lol.

As for the damage, that looks pretty deliberate. @$$holes.

JDawg...that sucks. The shit happens regardless of how much avoidance parking one does. My wife's MDX was scraped on the rear quarter panel the other day in her school parking lot. no note...nothing...we assume it was not a colleague. She's taking my car tomorrow morning ...I have to work on her car before i leave town.

I was walking up to my car one day and watched a lady open the passenger door of her F250 right onto my fender - dent looked almost identical!

I calmly walked behind her car, snapped a photo of her license plate and told her to break out her insurance info or I was calling the cops.

Felt satisfying catching them for once

Thanks for all the kind remarks. It was a remarkably windy day but the parking lot was not that full. There was no reason for somebody to park there next to me unless they were deliberately trying to be a**holes. I really hope it wasn't a deliberate act of vandalism. I have always heard of things like this happening to nice BMW's, but I always thought to myself "there has to be some other reason why this happened, etc.." Perhaps I was wrong...

Update: This particular part of the fender is double pressed steel and cannot be just pulled out by a good dent guy. Now the car has to go to the body shop, be torn apart and the whole fender has to be repainted. Cost around $800 from my local BMW bodyshop.

The force needed to make a dent like that in the fender is more than just opening the door or having the wind catch the door once. Someone hit your fender multiple times to do that damage. That was a deliberate act of vandalism. Some hater was pissed off you have what they probably never will.

That burns me up if that is true. WTF is wrong with people? I bust my ass in life to make sure my family has the nicer things in life and some dbag has to go and mess with it?? mark of a coward in my book.

Rant over - getting it fixed next week, hope they can match the paint color.

This reminds me of something that happened to me about 11 years ago. I was 21 and had a brand new Audi A4 that I busted my ass to pay for. I was out running errands and stopped by a 7-11 for a quick stop. I was coming out of the store, which I hadn't been in for more than a couple minutes, and a guy pulled up next to my car, proceeded to spit on the hood, and then yelled something to the effect of, "I like your daddy's car." He then drove off. Certainly saliva on the hood isn't damaging, but it was the intentional mistreatment of someone else's property that to this day outrages me. If the OP's dent was intentional, I hope the bastard rots in hell.

I don't know if I could contain myself from giving them a piece of my mind in this case, but I like to think I have matured and would not act violently in your shoes..but then again, who knows?? At least saliva washes off and they didn't key it or something.

thanks guys..will post pics of the repairs. Goin in next Tuesday to the body shop. I think the wife is more upset about it than I am. (It is her car)
will keep updating as long as it takes...

Update:

Update: Got the car back from the bodyshop today. They did a phenomenal job in my opinion. They blended the paint perfectly and you can't even tell the car was ever damaged. On top of that, because this is the
3rd BMW I have purchased from them, they did the repair for the cost of my deductible, so I didn't even have to claim it on my insurance..lif is good again.

Looks like they did a really good job... Did it actually cost $800?

$800 is spot-on for what I was quoted originally, but they hooked me up. Got it done for $500.
