When did I say that? I am saying that's how BMW market their product.

Jumping the gun again. Some people want to spend more money than others (not me BTW) but doesn't mean they are an insecure elitist wannabe.

You seems to be more insecure about people liking and can spend the money.

Sorry I thought an asset was something that provides a future benefit and unless you count a loss as a benefit (hey you arent a merchant banker by chance???) then it aint
Anything that has a 2nd hand market value is an asset, whether you like that definition or not.

Digging up an oldie.

24 1Ms for sale on carsales, wow, priced between $73,500 and $98,800 drive away (I will exclude the dreamer @ $130k cause they are just that, dreamin)

Is the market finally caught up in the $ value and it's time for people to change cars? 235s? M4s?

Imagine picking up a low k one and handing it to Pete at Advan and saying, make me a DCT please? One of a kind screamer.

M3 DCT boxes can be had for reasonable $ from UK wreckers also! (Unsure if its 100% pnp, but i believe the 335i DCT is the same as the M3 box)

I don't believe 335i and M3 DCT share a box at all.

I'm not 100% on this, but do you have any solid evidence that they aren't (I'm not after a keyboard battle, I'm just curious!)

The M3 DCT box is made by Getrag and is a GS7D36SG. I have seen wreckers advertising a 335i with a DCT with the same part #....

+1

Lots of talk on the main N54 forums regarding the DCT on a 335i being the same as an M3. The main difference being their programming.

Unless I'm mistaken, I didn't think there was a difference in DCT's between N54 and N55.

I'm guessing that there is a difference in the software calibrations for each gearbox which BMW programs, but I believe the hardware is the same hence the same getrag part #.

It's actually getrag that programs these gearboxes. Afaik the dct gearboxes are not programmable. Pretty much locked from getrag, the difference between the m3 and the 335 is obviously the pressures etc.

The only way to get the n54 running with the dct in the 1m is you would have to run the 335 dct wiring throught the whole car. It's been done, and I do believe there is a 1m dct running arround in alpine white.
