Electronic meltdown! what should I do?
So over the past 2 years I have taken my car in 6 times all for the same problem that has never been fixed. My windows do not respond accordingly when the buttons are pushed or stop where they want to. All of my steering wheel functions control different settings on the car. My volume"-" button will change the air circulation to increasing the volume. Where as the volume "+" button changes radio stations, makes calls through my iphone via bluetooth and lowers the volume too. I have been to two different dealerships with no luck and had the faceplate on the steering wheel changed too. It has been at my dealership for 4 days now and I am thinking about asking for a "buy back". my 128i has about 29k miles on it and I have had this condition for about 20k of those miles. I recorded video of the incident and sent it to my dealer which they forwarded to BMW Engineering department. Anyone have any suggestions?? Not sure what course of action to take.

I had the windows problem on my '08 128i. They had to replace the footwell module to fix that... The rest of the stuff, do as djpeetur said and push till it's fixed.

drop the car off, get a loaner, and tell them to call you when it's fixed. If they call you and say they can't fix it, do not pick up the car and call BMW. I would consult a lemon lawyer as well.
If you finance or own, I would certainly take action. That would kill resale. I cant believe you dealt with this issue for so long.

called for an update on the car and they told me the BMW engineers are trying to fix the problem from the video by EMAIL. I never thought a company like BMW would attempt to fix problems with a customer's car by email. They told me it would be a "slow process" and they respond to the service's email "when they get a chance". I lost a lot of respect for the brand.

What did you end up getting for a loaner? I hope they gave you the twin turbo engine to keep you quiet for the time being.

I don't honestly think it's a "Lemon," I think it's an apathetic dealership service department.

Update
My car has been parked outside for 3 weeks now without an update call from the service center. I had to go in last week to find out what was up. Apparently the component that checks if there were any faults in the car is not coming up with any faults. I told them that's clearly the problem but they don't think so. after that visit I I finalized all my info to my lemon lawyer and went ahead with them. Completely dissatisfied with how BMW has dealt with me and my car.

Were you driving while making that video?
Also, why did you wait 20,000 miles to bring this up to the dealer?

Yeah I was driving in a park but no one was around. Also wasn't going too fast either lol. I actually brought it up to the dealer around 10k miles and they acknowledged the problem at the time and replaced my steering wheel cover. I started another post about a trade assist update if you wanna check it out it's more up to date. Btw I brought it in 8 times over the course of 2 years for the same problem with no fix and they stopped acknowledging the problem. I even brought it to two diff dealers |

That's BS. Anyway, good luck with getting the issue resolved.
