N54 135i tuning question

So its been couple of month since i got the car, and now im thinking about giving it a tune. After some research on this forum, I want to run Cobb stage 2+.

So far, i only did the berk racing mids and axelback. I plan to add active autowerke catless downpipes and cobb accessport. Will i run into any problems with this set up? With this setup, will i need highflow airfilter or actual coldair intake or not at all? And will i need to get FMIC right away? or is that something that can wait a while?

And lastly, i live in NYC which does OBD emissions test. When i get the tune and the dps, all i have to do is load stock ecu map on the accessport, and just pass the test?

So many questions.. Thanks in advance!

FMIC is a must for 2+. To pass emissions you can keep it in stage 2 or 2+ for a WHILE while time passes so your car is in emissions testing 'ready mode'. Then just go and get the OBD test (keeping tune at whatever stage you want)

...unless the state inspector does a visual inspection for the cats... then you would fail.

You will need a dp fix to pass emissions. Stage 2 and 2+ have an auto clear so u don't get check engine light but your car still isn't in ready mode to test. I believe for emissions u would have to set it to stock map and wire in the dp fix to get the computers in ready status

thanks for the reply guys.

the only reason i said stage 2+ was because i was led to believe having downpipes meant stage 2+.

so can i get catless dps and run on stage 1 aggressive without throwing codes?

If you have Dp you can run stage 2 aggressive.
The + sign means that you have an intercooler.
If you run stage 1 with catless DP you will get a code.
If you run stage 2 with catless DP, you will not get a code.
