I'm with this guy. They shouldn't even make you pay the difference for the evo II considering how the evo I failed miserably but at least they ate compensating you some

I bought it in from the US like all my stuff. I get hit with tax and duty all the time but there just isn't a market for tuning this car over here and besides, I like to be different to all the rest of you UK folk.

I'm still on the fence altogether with intercoolers, but I think I'd go for the Helix unit if I was importing from the US. |

Forge = Forge tax. Show me day to day runs in the same circumstance and environment to prove that. If you ask me a bigger and more efficient IC on this engine is going to help it no matter what the brand as it simply runs too hot.
I chose ETS for the fact it is one of the largest (deepest) 5" intercoolers (non-stepped) which also comes with additional piping and lower charge pipe that DOES NOT require cutting of any trim. Others require cutting except for this Wagner unit, VRSF & Forge which is important to me with my warranty. The ETS is more than suitable for FBO albeit past that (RB Turbo's for example) will be insufficient which is fine for me as I won't go that far. If that was my plan or if I was happy with cutting trim from the get go I'd have gone for a 7" intercooler at the start. Anyway, that's largely off topic but you need not worry, I know what I am doing. |

Actually, if you look closely at the weld it is terrible and more than likely the root cause for failure. That is one reason why everyone needs to consider weld quality on the FMICs.

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead but I'd like to post a update.
Even with this failure on his car I went with the Wagner Evo 1 shortly after I posted this. I have a 25,000 HARD miles on mine and I have had no issues with the overall build of the intercooler. My only complaint is the painting process they use for their units. The paint was chipping very badly on the front face of the unit. I stripped it with a dremel and resprayed it was some high temp paint. All is good now.
