N55 FBO + Meth+ VTT Turbo + jb4 + cobb backend = errors!

Hello guys.

I have recently installed the vtt turbo upgrade in my 2011 bmw 135i n55 6speed manual transmission. Its a fbo with meth, jb4 and cobb back end flash.

Well, when trying to log, if I am driving it hard, around 4th gear pedal full down, hitting around 20psi of boost, the check engine light turns on blinking, and the service car soon light lights up too.

when this happens, the car obviously goes into limp mode, but this is a different limp mode then I have experienced before. In the past, the limp mode simply reduces the power. When THIS happens to me, the car barely accelerates, and when I press on the gas, the car shakes! first time it happened, I sh!t my pants, thought I blew something, and was looing for a place to park. Before I could find a place, the check engine light disapeared and everything went back to normal.

Some background info on my car that may have to do is, well my clutch is starting to slip, and I am leaking a little but of coolant which I am trying to find where the hell it leaks from.

This has happened a couple of times and I got the chance to read the errors via jb4 interface before they disapreared. Below are the error codes:

2EFE
2F03
2EE0
2EF1

The only error I could find some info on is the 2EFE that talks about the electric fan not running. I checked the fuses and everything is ok.

I would really appreciate your guys help. As always, I am very grateful.

Thank you!

What are you using to look up codes?
There is a sticky in the N55 section of German Boost which contains a document that lists all the codes.
2EFE - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
2F03 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
2EE0 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
2EF1 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected

Looks like cylinder 5 is misfiring , I'd check plugs and coils.
What plugs are you using?

Also that is the only kind of limp mode I've ever experienced.

My car did the same thing once. Multiple cylinder misfire. I pulled the codes up before shutting it off... There were a few with no info and a bunch of really weird ones like fan control not working and some other odd ones on top of the cylinder misfire codes. Once I restarted the car everything was gone and ran fine. It was weird. I'm fbo n55

so after you changed the spark plugs and cylinders, did it go away and never happen again?

What do you mean by 'I just bought all the cylinders'.
I use NGK 5992 spark plugs, gapped to 0.56mm (0.022″).
As recommended here

Also if you put your logs up on Datazap.me it makes them a lot easier to analyse.

I remember a few times this happened to me when I bought my first car (135i) back in 2009. I took a road trip to Niagara falls in Canada while stationed in New York and on my way back I had to fill up on fuel. I bought some 94 Octane before making it back over the border, when about 50 miles after filling up my car starts to do the Harlem Shake. It was as if my car had minor epilepsy while decelerating but felt like a 7.0 on the Richter Scale with ANY throttle input. I turned the car off and let it sit a few minutes before attempting to turn it back on. I didn't want my engine to explode! (My first car ever! I was so naive then.) Once the car was restarted all was well again.

P.S. I had never had modifications on my car when this happened.
My 1M has never experienced any problems that my 135i had.

Hopefully you figure out what exactly it is.

It probably shut a cylinder off, resulting in a rough ride and lack of acceleration

So it's normal that a misfire or bad cylinder fails and gets back to working fine after a second ? I always thought that once it went bad, it stays bad since I always saw people had time to change the spark plug of places to trouble shoot which one is bad.

And what do you guys think bout my logs anyway ??

Why is that?
Are the OEM N55 plugs one step colder than the OEM N54 plugs?

You should specify a bit more; there might not be great benefit on a stock N55, but with the mods that are being mentioned, ofcorse there are benefit, they are even recomended.

turbo upgrade, meth, fbo? These spark plugs are the way to go. Any one else have more info to input?
