A/C Blowing Warm Air

With 4500 miles, my 135i starting blowing warm out of the drivers side vents and cool air, not cold air, out of the passenger vents. Now, it seems like all the vents are blowing warm air, which sucks in AZ. I've tried every setting possible, and the same thing continues to happen. I have an appointment with the dealer to have it checked....any thoughts of what may be going on? :iono:g

It's possible your AC compressor failed. Turn up the AC all the way and look in the engine and see if it is running. I had the clutch fail on my AC compressor ones and it never engaged so the AC never went on. It could also be a leak in your AC which caused all your refrigerant to run out. If that is the case it could be very difficult to track down and fix. Luckily it's under warranty. Finally, it could be your thermostat.

As Gio said, you have a refrigerant problem. For some reason, that can manifest itself on a BMW as cool air from some vents and hot air from others.
Hope your dealer takes care of it quickly.

Don't mean to bring up an old thread but until today my a/c has been working fine. On my drive to work, however, I was only getting slightly cool air while I had the a/c on max for my entire 25 minute commute. This was sort of all of a sudden. Do you guys think I may have a leak as well?

What mods have you got? Is your dealer uptight about it? They most likely can't have caused an AC problem unless during the installation you damaged something.

Guess the only thing I need to remove is the JB3.

So I can't get into the dealer until Tuesday. They are booked with 120 appointments for Monday and a majority of them are a/c related. Hmm...

yeh,..mine was an odd issue. After being at the dealership for a week, i pick it up and the AC wasnt blowing cold. I think it was the fan or something. Just bring it in, they'll take care of you

So the diagnostic findings showed there was a leak in the line from the compressor and the line has since been replaced. Just a stroke of bad luck it seems.

sorry to revive such an old thread, but I wanted to put this somewhere in the hopes that someone else down the road with a similar problem finds it.

my 2011 128i started exhibiting this problem a couple of days ago; I had cool air coming from the passenger vents, lukewarm air from the drivers side vents. There was a significant temperature difference between drivers and passenger side vents.

I hooked the car up to an AC machine, system was quite a bit low on refrigerant. I filled it back up to spec, now I get consistently cold air on BOTH sides of the car. the system was simply low on refrigerant. We couldn't find any visible leaks (tracer dye).

I read somewhere that SAE (society of automotive engineers) states that acceptable spec on a car AC system fitting is .25 ounces of refrigerant loss per year. multiply that figure by the number of fittings on your car, and you can see how it is at least possible to lose refrigerant over time without having a significant leak.

again, didn't mean to 'grave dig' an old thread, just thought my experience might help someone down the road.

2012 135i Warm air from the driver two vents and cold air from the passenger.

It seems weird to me that low refrigerant would be the cause as the passenger side feels correct. It is almost like the cool are is being blocked.

I have a BMW extended warranty, so will take it in to the dealer, but thought I would post to see what others had found to be the issue to "guide" the dealer.

Thanks

It's really low refrigerant if the passenger side is cold. I just had this issue 2 weeks ago and had my AC system tested for leaks and refilled. Back to normal now. My two driver vents were ambient (if not warmer) air and the passenger was chilled air. I had 0.44lb of refrigerant in the system. Way too low.
