M1, 1M, M Coupe are still my favorites....I think the addition of tii would just confuse most people....and I sincerely hope 135 won't appear anywhere....

This guessing name is rather fun Only a few reasonable options.
Recapturing the spirit of the 2002 bmw, the 1 series did it's job...it's SOUL well ...that is when the 1 series ///M comes in..music..aggressive street driving...passes under tunnel..hear the QUADS roar...///M splashes on screen.. 1s///M or ///1sM or ///1M or 1///M....Joy is the new 1 series M. Imagine your own commercial, how would it be??? |

4 naked chicks (ones that look like Jesse James' various indiscretions for me please) drifting a convertible M1 through a busy city throwing eggs and dog crap at Audis. All smoking cigarettes

Seriously, I just took it from your outburst that you were having an off day. I honestly couldn't care less if you hated BMW, went to Audi or anything else in between. Lighten up. Quote:
Actually you have this all wrong, the Lamborghini is Audi designed, with the use of Audi technology and parts, so in effect the R8 and the Gallardo are both Audi cars. I won't get into an argument about what BMW did all those years ago with Lamborghini's input, let's just say that the M1 is an icon and no 1 series should be given that name to tarnish. |

"tii" isn't a brand or division like ///M is though, not when it was originally used at least. It originally stood for turbo, injected, and intercooled.

Now back on topic.
I have to agree with most here, to use the M in any other way than the rest of the M saloon/coupe and convertible cars would lessen it's status among the breed for those that are badge dependent. So if it won't use the 'M1' badge and M135i or 135M sound wrong then why not drop the number system here and run with the 'tii' badge as well as the 'M'. Maybe something like Mtii would look quite tasty on the back of a 1 series. |

I just thought about something. You know how the 135i was supposed to be the spiritual successor of the 2002, well maybe the M version of the 1-series will be the spiritual successor of some historical M-car. I don't know BMW history good enough to know that, but does anyone have any ideas?

If it doesn't say "M1" on the back, the M3/5/6-fanboys will say "It's not a real M-car" just like the 911 fanboys say "The Boxster isn't a real Porsche" Prepare your responses now....

Definitely gonna be called ///M2. The original 1er was supposed to be a 2 series BMW in the USA. Speculation of an M2 has been around since at least 2004. Scott's hint of hearkening back to the 2002 just makes even more sense.
