Four problem areas, variable cam timing housing bolts, cv-joints, front airbags, battery cable connection at fuse box - believe all were recalls.

Depending on conditions Clean to Average at (BMW) dealer approx $20,300 - $19,700. Depending on zip code, car specs, etcetera - price can vary upwards $1300 or downward $2000 at dealer on the Black Label pricing site.

Body repair work price drop by thousands, old or cheap tires price drops by $1000~. No Service Records or less then half brake pad life brake pad life price drop by $1000+

I got some info from Consumer Reports and some stuff just my opinion.

I think convertibles are nice but limited to where you can go...and I thought they were cheaper because of that...

Seems about right for a 2012 with that mileage. If they'd negotiate down to $18.5 that would be a good deal

One year ago I got a 2011, so same age at this point, same specs and 54,000 for $16k but it needed a OFHG. So I think it might be a couple grand too steep.

Thanks for all the replies.. took the car for a ride. Overall it is in really good shape and it seems to have an impeccable service report according to CarFax. The only issue we encountered was an CEL for the adaptive headlights.. probably whatever controls the motion of the projectors is bad. Dealership will look into it and they say they will fix it.

Don't forget to get a PPI from a good shop first.

I would say anything below 20k is a good deal on these cars for what you get. I just purchased a 2012 135i w/28k miles on it, with the M Sports package etc. I paid 18900. However, I beat them up for that price ...so if you can get them down 500 bucks go for it!
Not a fan of verts however they are slower...but that is just me...

I just got my 2012 135i M-sport manual with 38K miles from Carmax for $19,999, and Carmax isn't exactly know for being inexpensive.

There will always be a lot of unknowns regarding future repairs on any 135i! The only way to know is to buy it!

Price? I'd offer $15K and give the dealer my phone number. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he came up with a counteroffer of accepted my $15K. In any case, I wouldn't go above my initial offer.

As I mentioned above, I bought mine from Carmax, and I also added their popular MaxCare coverage for $2300 for 5 years/37,000 more miles...and my repairs have already justified it in two months. lol

A lot of people like CarMax and their warranty.

Curious, what have your repairs been so far?

The MaxCare for $2,300 for 5+ years and 37,000+ miles is certainly a great deal! I don't see how they do it! I paid BMW $3K for an additional 3 years, and I had to beat then into the ground for that price!

Incidentally, we have identical cars. I bought mine new for $38K with zero miles of course. I'll drive it to 100K miles and give it away to some kid for a couple of dollars.

Don't forget to keep an eye on the DCT for leaks.

Unless it has allot of miles and is not stock - they will never call you for 15k.
Maybe for an older N54...OP is looking at an N55.

Check KBB OP get a good estimate of what it is worth...

The charge air pipe needed to be replaced (I went into limp mode on the highway.) Also, either the seals of my headlights went bad, or a former owner didn't seal them up correctly, because I went through a particular car wash and it flooded my headlights and control unit. That was $6k alone, although I think Carmax talked them down to $4500.

My BMW dealer dealt with MaxCare entirely on the warranty, so it was a piece of cake. I didn't have to do anything on my end.

Yeah, Maxcare rates vary, and I wan't necessarily going to buy it, until I found out it was so cheap. I generally drive less than 5000 miles per year, so I should be covered for the full 5 years. Pretty good for $22,300, total. Actually, I also spent something like $800 to transfer it in from another Carmax, which is part of the appeal of that company, to me, so it was around $23K total.

My car is a manual transmission, so no DCT worries.

An automated car wash? SACRILEGE! That's what you get. (JK)
