Increase rear tire size but not front?
'08 135i. 16k miles. Stock rear tires are at the indicator. Fronts will be there by 20k.
My goal is to obtain 4 inexpensive tires with long lasting tread life. I'm looking at the Conti ExtremeContact DWS. Thoughts on keeping the stock size in the front and going to 255/35 in the rear, up 10mm from the 245/35? So it would look like this: Front: 215/40/18 Rear: 255/35/18 All-season tires do not exist in the stock rear 245/45 size. The 225/40 Conti front tires are on backorder. So, the above option is what I can get done on an ASAP basis. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you, NA |

I highly recommend General Exclaim UHP tires. They come in 225/40 and 255/35 and have great wet-traction for a summer tire. With the exception of the snow-storms we had, I feel comfortable driving year-round with those tires in Maryland. They wear very well and exhibit a great compromise between grip, wet-traction and wear. The price is great, too.
