Coding for PE??
Ok this may sound like an incredibly silly question but with how many small things that are coded for on our cars, is there supposed to be any coding done when installing the BMW performance exhaust? So this is why I ask. After installing the exhaust it sounded great but at certain RPMs the exhaust would drone a bit. Unfortunately these seemed to be cruising RPM on the highway both in drive or sport with the auto shifter. I recently took my car in for scheduled service and the dealer did notice the exhaust. When I got the car back that evening the drone pretty much went away. I noticed my RPMs seem not to hang in the drone range anymore. The dealer didn't mention doing anything, but do you think there is coding done for the PE on an auto car to prevent drone?

There is no coding for a PE. Maybe the dealer fixed a poor PE install ? Maybe it was touching something on the undercarriage. ??? Also... the PE will change it's sound(the sound gets deeper) after a few thousand miles - once the inside gets all carbon'd up.

Some drone is normal for the PE.
There certainly isn't any coding for it.

The PE drones around 2000 to 2300. It's not too bad.

Hmm interesting. Thanks guys! I kinda thought coding was a bit far fetched but hey when a battery is coded who knows lol. I'll have to ask the dealer what they didnext time I go in there . Supposedly it was just a brake fluid flush and air filters. There was definitely a sound difference when I picked it up though. I'm pretty sure it wasn't mileage as I bought the PE used with 20k already on it. I also doubt the dealer tweaked the install as mine is welded on not installed with the clamp, so very little tweaking is possible. Thanks again for the help.
