**POLL ADDED** 1ers, how old are you?

**** POLL ADDED ****

Kind of curious to see what kind of age bracket pulls in 1 owners to date. I'm not sure if there was a thread in the past, but I am much too lazy to use the search section. However, I am interested to see the variation in age. I myself, am 23 years young and purchased my car CPO. I know there are many who drove their 28 or 35 off the lot.

What was your plan of action, and why?

Me? I drive 60 miles a day to work, so purchasing new didn't make sense. I plan to keep my 128 as a daily, and hopefully by next year, get myself into a 996 (hopefully with IMSB done already). 35 meticulous owners seem to keep garaged during winter (for those who suffer), and 128 push it year round (It is a "woman" car though, ha).

i'm 37 years old.

i drive 120 miles a day, a 6 speed manual, through heavy NYC traffic out of the city, with the traction control off. i don't care about practicality as much as i care about my enjoyment. if i'm going to work hard, i deserve whatever i want!

I'm 21 with a 135i n54, running jb4 and catless downpipes year round. I live in SW PA so the winters can get a little harsh sometimes, but I bought it used and it came with winter wheels/tires. It gets around pretty good with a little weight in the trunk

20, and I will have had it for 4 years this coming April. Drive it every day as a daily. Drove it off the lot and have had nothing but enjoyment. Don't drive much during the week as I like a mile from work another mile from school. But I do do plenty of driving on the weekends, and plenty of long trips from Miami to Orlando and vice versa.

32. Only a few miles to commute each day, but that'll change in less than a year. Ordered my car new when I came across a deal I could not refuse, even though I had a car I was perfectly happy with at the time.

I'm 30, ordered mine in May of 2009 and it was delivered in June. Been daily driver until last May. I used to drive 60 mins to work and back until moved across the street from work last jan. Got front end damage last march and ended up with a new hood bumper and fender. Won't be driving in the winter now with my beater I got, so no more giant rock chips. I just wanted a nice, fast car. Now I'm FBO and don't need to drive it in the winter. Go crazy in the summer though.

I'm 31 and had this car for a year. It's my daily driver and sometimes a track car. I love it!

52 years old. I had a Datsun 510 as a daily driver when I was your age (actually, from about 20 to 35). In late December of 2012 I had an epiphany: I missed how much fun I had every time I drove that car. January 10, 2013 I ordered my 128i, the spiritual successor to the 510 and its arch nemesis, the BMW 2002.

I passed on a lot of more expensive or quicker cars to get it. I don't need big HP numbers and I have no need to constantly "upgrade" to a different vehicle as the 128i is a far better car than I am a driver. I PURCHASED my 128i with the intention of keeping it as long as I can get spare parts.

My goal is balanced, street-able handling along with the comfort my aged body desires. The SOFTEST bushings in the 510 were polyurethane and the interior was stripped of pretty much everything (I didn't have ultimate speed, but I sure had momentum). I did have door panels, but it wasn't until my daughter was born that I re-installed the back seat and heater though it still had no sound insulation or carpets (might explain why the only option I ordered besides M-Sport was the cold weather package...). My 128i has all the 1M/M3 suspension bits, sans the rear camber arms (coming January or February) and will most likely be finished off with Koni Sports and either Swift Spec-R or BMWP springs, square 17 x 8 wheels with 235-45/17 tires and a Quaife Then I'll just drive it, and drive it, and drive it.

Young whippersnappers... Double nickels here. Bought new a 2011 128 with the sport package and a few other packages. Have added the performance muffler and the carbon intake, it's a fun little BMW, very happy with it. It's my winter beater, but she gets her turn throughout the rest of year. I drive my 86 e30 in the summer....

53.

I've driven a BMW since 1984 and my current 128i is my sixth... Have loved BMWs since my brother bought a 2002 in 1975.

27. Last job had a fantastic drive, but sadly with the current job taking the train just makes much more sense. Current job pays significantly more though, so it's hard to argue.

She continues to be excellent.

Just did engine and trans mounts last weekend(she is on M3 motor mounts now), and I have the full supplies(tran, diff, brake, coolant, filters, bolts, etc) for Inspection II this weekend. Also did tensioners, pulleys, and belts two weekends ago. And replaced the driver's side C pillar trim as it was getting the typical sag.

Future will likely see some variety of long term stock like suspension(Bilsteins?) and a Quaife at the bare minimum. Oh, and a fresh windshield is in the works for the holidays.

I have the geezer title, so far. I'll be 61 in April. Both my departed '09 and my new '13 were ordered (wanted M-Sport and stick). I don't drive it Dec.-Feb. That's what the Focus with Blizzaks is for. I referee an NCAA D-1 sport, and sometimes need to get through the slop.

I've been retired for four years. I have a couple of part-time, fun jobs. So, I drive the 1er both to work, and for fun.

There are a couple of 1 owners not too far from me, so I am hoping to meet up with them in the spring. I cook a mean smoked brisket ; )

this is exactly my thought! people always question my automobile decision making and this is pretty much my response. i enjoy driving and regardless what car it is, its expensive. Therefore, i am will to spend a little more to driving something i enjoy, the way i want to.

i am 26 btw. just got the car a little over a week ago. it was traded in at an in-company MINI dealership for a MINI GP2. I was completely happy with my 2007 A4 but couldnt pass up the deal i got on the 135. love this car so far, and purchased some christmas presents for her that should be in on Friday and hopefully installed sometime at work next week!

I'll be 70 years young in the Spring of '14. My current 135i is my 17th BMW, and my 63rd car since age 18.

I could have and certainly have had "more" car in size, power, cost, luxury, etc, etc, BUT the 135i MSport with 6MT just stirs my soul the right way. A lighter, nimbler, powerful but balanced car. It makes me smile whenever I drive it. In urban areas, I prefer the 135 to my E90 M3 (no longer owned).

We have another car between my wife and I, and the 135i is more of my play thing. I no longer commute to work, but when I did up until April 2013, my drive was only about 15 minutes in a small city. Lots of open roads and little traffic and congestion, just the way I like it. I had a DCT 135i previously, but made the swap last May to get back to the 6MT - a swap I am very glad I did. Way more fun and involvement.

45... love my 128.

Haven't broke 20000 yet, but love driving it as much as I did on the day I got it almost 5 years ago.

Stig--Back in August, I did 60 lbs. of brisket at once, as a favor for a caterer relative of my brother. That was a lot of cow!

I see M3Post is leaking again: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455123

But in all seriousness:
26, don't use her as a commuter, have an Integra as a DD that has suspension mods(feels more nimble, not fast). No sense in having gobs of power in traffic. It's my weekend car. I had my eye and a deposit on a 1M that never came to fruition, so I gave the dealer a finger and bought used a few years ago. Where I am there isn't snow (except for a freakish microclimate 6 years ago) so I still bring her out on the weekends to play.

I'm 27. I started driving cars with an E30 and after living with my E90 for year I knew I had made the wrong choice. I got the 135is because I wasn't about to shell out 60k for a used 1M and I got a very very good deal on the car. Its a lease but my residual is amazing and I fully plan on buying the car out at the end of the lease, even if an M2 exists by then.

I did an order from my dealer and waited out the 3+ months for the car. I didn't want the premium and tech gizmos and I did want a 6MT. Wish I could have had other options like a sunroof delete ::looks at st1g:: but I'm very happy with the 135is and I think the feel of the car (and other manual transmission 1series cars) embodies the same spirit as the E30. On a somewhat related note, I'll be adding an E30 to my garage as soon as I get a new place with a 2-car

38. I work from home so the 135i is a 3rd car that mostly gets used for weekend trips and running around the city.
