Ice racing?

So I just signed up for a BMW CCA membership this past week and noticed the Boston chapter has these ice racing events, apparently there was one last weekend. Has anyone been to any of those? It sounds like fun and I do want to give it a try at some point.

While I'm on the subject, anyone have any other BMW CCA recommendations for a newb?

I tried ice racing last year. The event I attended, however, was not typical. The plowed the course, and that night it rained. So the next day when we were racing, it was sheer ice. Not only that, but the snow banks were ice banks. There were definitely a few mangled cars by the time the day was over. I was WAY too nervous about smashing my beautiful 1 into an iced bank (since I had Nokian hakkapaliittas (super snows) and not studs).
I imagine if there was some slushy-ness it would be worth a shot.

Thanks for the feedback! Ice sounds like it really would take the fun out of the activity.

Hmm I hadn't realized the next one is this weekend! Seeing as I'm in Chicago until next week, I doubt I'd be able to make this one either. Bummer!

not to totally thread-jack, but how does the 135 handle in the snow with winter tires (not studded?) I'm still driving my GTi this winter, but by next winter, i will drive the 135 on snows.

Oh yeah, blizzaks seem a good way to go.

How was ice racing?
