MPG once past 1000 miles???
Must be a few of you guys out there now well past 1000 miles. What sort of mpg are you guys getting in normal day-to-day driving?? (As in normal traffic on public roads but with a bit of zinging up through the lower gears here and there for the fun of it.)
TIA, M1ke |

5,000 miles on my car and I averaged 30.8 mpg on the highway coming back from Virginia last week. 70 mph and no traffic lights (with a/c on). Normally I average around 27-28 mpg but I don't deal with city traffic much.

Was 26.1 mpg (UK measurement) @ 1200 miles first service Now 25.9mpg, probably due to some spirited driving Varied mix of driving. Motorways, A and B roads, some days 10 miles, other days 80 miles. |

IF I can drive slow (120 kph) and use the cruise control... I can get 9.5L/100 kph. But I mostly average 11.5 to 13.5L with my heavy right foot (crusiing at 200 kph average speed) and no speed limit autobahns. The worse I have ever seen was 40+L's per 100 kph - doing a top speed run. I think that was less than 5 kms per liter(!) or 5mpg. I most get 19mpg though.

The tank is 53 litter including reserve.
When I fill-up, the the instrument shows about 450km to go. I enjoy driving my 1M but I have to stop at the gas station every time I drive. I have owned a Porsche GT3 and it had a 90 litter tank which can go about 1000 km with normal driving. |

I have a little over 3K miles and have been averaging ~15 mpg. I suspect the fact that i do 95% city driving and have an extremely heavy right foot have something to do with the ridiculous gas mileage i have been getting.
Nevertheless, the permanent smile that gets plastered across my face every time i go for a drive makes the dismal mileage i have seeing totally worth it!!... |

I was getting 20.5 in Europe on my ED, mostly fast autobahn/autostrada driving, but some crowded city driving as well. It was better than I expected. I get low teens in my '07 335i, mostly Houston city driving.

I have done 1400 miles and had the run in service done. Today with a mixture of village, town & motorway driving at various speeds between 0 & 70 I achieved just over 35 MPG on a 60 mile run during rush hour although it wasn't too busy being the holiday season. I deliberately set out to see what I could get out of the car and used the shift indicators etc.

I don't recall exactly, but every gas stop was over $100, and I was refilling long before the gas light would come on. I think we calculated around $10/gallon with the lousy currency exchange.

Right now fuel prices around $8.4 per gallon over here. 1.57 euros per liter X 3.785 (1 gallon) X the exchange rate 1,42 = $8.40 USd. But... the euro has been crashing lately... and the gas prices have been higher this summer. The highest I saw (this summer) was 1,68 euros for SuperPlus at most gas stations. Back in June a saw a few gas stations charging 1.77 for the extra octane fuels like Aral's 102 octane or Shell's V-Power 101. And right now were are in teh prime time summer vacation time... so I kind of expect the prices to go up ten euro cents. Dackel PS: This photo was taken last week in BA. |

28-30mpg if I go steady and 'play' briefly.
25mpg if I am liberal with the M button and lead foot. MPG always improves with Ultimate or V-Power by 1.5-2mpg

With a M3, when your really driving fast... 180 miles on a tank (65L) is what you can get. With a 135i, when your really driving fast... 230 miles on a tank (55L) This have been my experience with driving on the autobahn over here. I would bet that the 1M is gets about the same range as a 135i. And since the 1M has the smaller tank(than an M3)... it really does get better fuel mileage than a M3. But yea... who cares... it is a performance sports car not some gren eco tree hugging car! PS: I normally do average around 11.5 to 13.5L per 100kph on my 135i on the autobahn. |

Average is 18.1 mpg so far (8.700km/5405miles).
In litres 12,8 - 13,9 per 100km, had 22 on the Nordschleife. That's about 3 litres less per 100km in day to day driving than my M392 did. With the M3 that was in fuel-save-mode, whereas the 1M runs in what-the-hell-mode. Approx. the same as my M346 averaged. I think the economy vs. the power and speed produced is fine.
