Well, I haven't taken delivery yet, but I plan on keeping my 1er for a long time. Maybe 8-10 years -- that seems reasonable for a car that's had regular proper maintenance with ~ 10k-12k miles/year.

That said, I can read the writing on the wall. The future belongs to plastic cars with electric motors. This more than anything helped push me to splurge on this car and go for the 135i where I ordinarily would've been a little more conservative. This may be the last "real" car I buy.

I have hopes that diesel will become more popular here in the States. (I prefer just having one powertrain in my cars, not two.) Truth be told, if the 123d had been available, I'd have snapped that up in a heartbeat, but the old Impala is getting a bit long in the tooth and ought to be replaced soon (plus the opportunity for European Delivery came up now.)

My wife's car is going to need to be replaced in a couple of years, and I might try to encourage her to replace it with something like this:

...especially if they make that 170HP variant available.

Good question, but I'm not sure I like the new Scirroco design. When I was younger, I pined after the 1st-gen Scirocco, still the best-looking Scirocco after all these years. The Corrado was a close second, but those were the bad VW years with questionable interiors and reliability.

RS6... nice, but too rich for my blood.

I want another 135 (more fully loaded) or possibly a M3.....I don't know if i can get sick of my 135 ever. There is alot of nice cars out there but since i work for bimmer i would be stupid to pay full price for anything else.

really? I dig the newer design more than the older version. Probably due to me being a youngin. RS6 is a good vehicle but agree, quite pricey for a "super wagon".
