I would love to do that front end but
I would want to widen the rears too!

Contrary to popular belief, the stock rear fenders can run up to 275/35/18 tires with some rolling and shaving - as long as you have the correct offset wheels.

We didn't get a chance to weigh the hood/FE widebody unfortunately but here's the wheel weight of an 18x9.5 ET58 F14

I run 265/30/19 and I still have room.....going to be getting 275/30's soon!

After work I got a few more photos of the car.

I will admit I never really considered this kit as I thought widening the front without the rear would look strange but after seeing the kit in person on the ER car I was sold. Their photos with the exposed carbon fiber don't really show how well their kit fits with the 135i styling. Its a dope kit and big thanks to Sonic MS for under taking the work on this car.

Nice work, but am I the only person who thinks the hood looks like it fits terribly? I am all for weight savings and to each his own.

I think so too. Maybe it's because of having an aftermarket hood and fender is the cause. Just my $0.01.

Ive mentioned this in other threads as well, I just dont see how doing this could enhance performance. Widening the front end and using a straight setup with the fronts having lower offsets (i.e. the wheel sticks out farther), doing this makes the front track stance wider than the rear, regardless of how wide the rears or fronts are. With the stock setup, the rear track is actually only about 2 inches wider than the front, and thats with a 215 front 245 rear tire setup.

With this kind of setup the front track must be atleast 2-3 inches wider than the rear total, and that performs for a RWD setup how?

I dunno, maybe technically it just needs to be explained to me if Im wrong but im pretty sure im not.

Quick answer is that getting closer to a "square" non-staggered tire setup allows for less understeer and better handling on the track. Understeer is "easier" to control for a novice driver, but less than ideal on the track.

Doesnt really answer my statement about the front track ending up being wider than the rear..

It just simply doesnt make sense for the front tire to tire track width to be wider than the rear on a RWD car. Ideally for sure the rear should atleast be inline if not wider than the front.

Yes I already know the whole understeer thing with the 1er's front end, thats not what concerns me though. Someone who can answer my question please post. I mean, cuz yes the ER kit looks cool and its great that it allows for wider tires n shit up front but obviously that brings me to my questions. If you're not doing the same thing to the rear, the front becomes ATLEAST 2-3 inches wider in track width, even more with an aggressive wheels/tire setup. And to be honest, if you're going with this front end, im pretty damn sure youre doing it so you can run much wider wheels with lower offsets, thus pushing the tires even farther away from each other and widening the track width of the front even more.

Is anyone understanding what im saying here or am I just going to keep getting some random shit about understeer being reduced? I mean honestly its not a big deal to me, no way in hell im spending the $2k+ on revamping the entire front end of this car and being left with all my stock shit and nothing to do with it. Really im just curious as to what ER has to say or perhaps another distributor or something that may have a clue what theyre talking about with this. Do you ever see an M3 or any other high performance RWD sports coupe/car with a wider front end? No.

Awesome but really really really wish their was a rear widening kit.. fronts are good but rears would be wayyyy better.. nonetheless your car looks hot..

The car looks sharp except the hood had a gap on both headlights, otherwise it would be a perfect mod.
