Tire changes at Costco?

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Hey all,
I'm thinking about getting new tires and getting them installed at Costco but is it safe to take BMW's to Costco or any place that doesn't necessarily handle BMW's exclusively?
Because BMW's have jack pads that are plastic that can get destroyed... without adapters or something.
Where do you get new tires and installation? any input would be appreciated
Thanks!

I believe the tire changers at costco are ok...

but you need to make sure they have the proper equipment. If you have low profile run flats, not all equipment can handle them. Make sure costco has the right stuff. I would also clean my wheels before going in and get confirmation that on the before condition. The best thing about costco is customer service. With regard to the jack pads, I wouldn't worry about that.

Good luck

As with any other place you are going to take the car, DO A WALK AROUND WITH A MANAGER! Tell them to pay special attention to the condition of the wheels. Trust me, I've had two wheels scratched by tire places and both times they replaced the wheel because I did the walk around with the manager.

Also, if you're not selling anything, this is the wrong section.

I am a firm believer you get what you pay for. You gotta be nuts to take a nice car like a BMW into a Costco or Walmart for tires. What kind of tires will you mount on your car? Coopers? Find out where a good shop is in your area. Go look at the BMW CCA site... I am sure there must be a place or two that cares about cars and wants your biz.

Also Costco gives you free road hazard warranty... I.e. if your tire is damaged you get refunded a prorated amount toward a placement tire. Same goes with tread life if you show your car is properly aligned and maintained. There are good reasons to go to Costco.

The reason I take my cars to Costco is they offer free rotations anytime.. rotating tires in the States cost about less than ~$100 and doing that yearly can be costly
But I'm not sure what to do with my bimmer, maybe I'll find a different shop

You can't rotate the tires with a directional staggered setup.
