135i Carbon Fibre Interior Trim Wrap

Having purchased a 135i with the Poplar wood interior I had Carbon Demon install a carbon fibre wrap to the interior trim with what I think are great results. The job was bigger than I thought it would be as a lot more of the interior required dismantling than I imagined, but it was all put back together nicely.

There's a gallery at www.carbondemon.com.au which has given me a few ideas on other visual mods for the exterior.

No the lines aren't quite matched although this is less obvious when not looking down on the gearstick through the sunroof

Awww that is a shame! I would be too OCD to have that would force me to rip it off and do it again haha.

Looks good though - welcome to the club

Disclaimer - mine is also not 100% but is good enough for me

Great stuff!

Mike @ Carbon does a fantastic job. Had a lot of questions about wrapping from my detailing clients and always refer them over to Mike.

I think it looks good. I would not be worried in the slightest that every weave on separate pieces doesn't line up. So what? If the pieces were made from carbon fibre the weave wouldn't necessarily line up. As long as the direction of each wave is the same I don't think it matters.

Man you got good eyes RaihaX!

I like that carbon look, I'd be interested in knowing the price as well if you don't mind PM'ing me as well unless you're ok to share here.

Thanks for the comments guys. He charged $350 altogether for the wrap itself and labour. I think this was a very reasonable price given there was A LOT of labour involved in removing the trim and putting it all back together. If it wasn't for the ashtray lying under the centre console it would take a small fraction of the time as the other interior pieces are much easier to remove. The job is apparently much easier for 3 series

I also looked into swapping to aluminium glacier trim or BMW carbon fibre but wasn't willing to pay over $2K to have it done!

Btw i'm gonna see if I can have the wrap around the gear lever replaced so that all the lines are aligned. Thanks for pointing that out RaihaX! You made me go back to my car to view it from different angles and now it seems very noticeable!

LOL... Don't worry.. Rest assured, It wont be done.

Sylvania tinted the fronts at 30% but its not an exact match for the factory tint.. Not that noticable, but I can see the difference..The factory comfort glazing must be 25% tints.

Looks good. What did you use, CF fabric or 3M CF Dinoc Vinyl?

I did my in CF fabric a while ago. The trim is easy to remove except for the piece with the ashtray. This requires the center console to be removed. Looks like they removed more trim than was required on yours. There was no need to remove trim around the radio and air conditioning controls.

It's almost impossible to line up the weave however, as long as it is going in the same direction and same angle it's hard to tell.

Has anyone tried carbon wrapping the large black plastic bits around the aircon, radio?
Wondering what that would look like.

Smiley if you have a look at the CarbonDemon website they have photos of a 335i and also a 118i where different parts of the interior have been done. I'm not a fan to be honest but you might feel otherwise

It's the 3M CF vinyl. It's not so much the lines not lining up that bothers me but the fact that the angles are different on the gear stick and ashtray. Mike's agreed to re-do that small part though so I'm happy

Thanks Ron, I see your point. I think it's a bit much having that wrapped as well.

Yeah is the angle that is not quite the same sorry that I made it more noticeable for you! At least he is willing to re do it for you!

When I was doing mine I made sure that the angle was the same and try to get the lines to match up.

i did this ages ago. i did my start button as well.. simple and looks great. i didn't line up the console to the gear shift section too.. making me want to get it done again.

i had issues and ran out of patience trying to figure out how to get the ash tray out to do it. so i always leave it up so you really cant see it.

looks great though and $350.. not a bad price considering that 99% of the labour is getting the ash tray sorted.
