Talking How to mod a 135i to a 1M and save!

1. Buy a used 135i from carsales.com.au
2. Buy 1M from the USA
3. Break 1M apart and send needed parts to Aus
4. Put 1M parts on 135i
5. Sell any unused parts

I just worked that out and it's not worth it.
Used 135i is $50k
1M in the US is $46k
50% tax is $23k plus shipping of $3000
Total is $122,000.
Then you have to have a professional fit all the parts.

Thanks for the reminder and I have slightly adjusted the procedure. You just have to DIY.

2. Break apart 1M and send ALL parts to Aus to different addresses
3. Reassemble your DIY 1M.

Would surely be cheaper to buy all needed parts from a BMW parts reseller and just buy the 2nd hand 135i here.

But I think the point of the discussion is what would be needed on a 135i, to make it as quick. We all know we can make more power very easily, there are some aftermarket suspension parts which would outperform stock 1M parts and changing to better tyres than the 1M would help a fair bit, so why all the fuss?

I don't have a problem with cheaper cars being faster than me, why is it that this conversation always seems to rile people up? Just like the 135i V M3 or 135i V 335i.

Everyone has to justify their purchase and if someone can do something better for less, they trade off something to get it. I could have bought an R32 GTR and made it a hell of a lot faster than a 135/1M/M3 for less, but I chose other things over that. But if 'said' R32GTR pulls up next to me, or at a track and hands me a can of whoop ass I'm not going to make excuses...

Or just buy one of these.

R35

They were a lot cheaper than my M3 and Cayman R, faster is not always better anyway

Rule broken!!!!! The rule in this thread is not to make it any faster than the 1M, but to make another 1M.

PS - rule wasn't clear .

1. Buy Daewoo Lanos (preferably a shit one, but that's hard to tell because that's the average quality)
2. Buy LS1
3. DIY engine swap
4. Phat tyres
5. 10 second Korean POS shopping trolley.
