n55 AR Catless DP Smell

So i've installed the Berk Axelback Muffler and the AR catless downpipe. and since i have an N55, that means i have no cats at all. the smell is quite noticeable, but then again i only have ~ 125 miles on the setup. Will the smell get less noticeable over time, or am i gonna have to smell a lawnmower every time i roll down the windows? I do like the throttle response, extra power, and most of all, that glorious noise, but i get really paranoid because i feel like the fumes are gonna make me pass out or something.

It should get better as you break in the car but it will never be gone 100%. You will always get that kind of smell if you roll your windows down and the car is standing still. Personally it doesn't bother me. Either don't roll down the windows if you plan to do alot of stopping or just use the AC!

You might get used to it....so I heard. I bet it sounds beautiful though I didn't want to risk it so I went catted DP with the Berk Full Street exhaust.

it never changes. this is why i'm waiting on a good n55 catted dp.

i've done the catless thing, enjoy the smell, but in so cal it's simply too obvious.

Yeah there is a smell, but I don't mind it.
My girl last week: "it smells like gas everywhere downtown"
Me: "yeah.. it.. ummmm.. yep, sure does"

i've heard chatter about a vishnu pipe, icarbon is... questionable at best as to whether or not they're in business, and their dp has a tiny cat.

It was so much easier to find a quality dp for my sti.

I personally like the smell of mine. Im running 94 octane vp race gas in it anyway, and i love the small. But to answer your question, itll always be there.

Have you guys ever seen those smog sniffer trucks on the side of the road?

Here in Dallas every once in a while I see them set up right at an on ramp to the highway. I assume they are checking for this very thing. I wonder what happens if they do 'sniff' you? What's the actual penalty or what's the course of events if they do get a bad smog reading?

I'm planning to go full cattless and a little concerned about these guys. Any tricks for if you do come up on one? Maybe kill the car as you roll by? Usually when I see them they are in a place where its too late to do anything but drive by.

I know for a fact in Nassau county it's an $890 fine. Considered tampering with an emissions control device. I was told by the cop who wrote me he could have wrote it for a misdemeanor don't know the truth on that.

I only got the smell once I removed my secondary cats, no smell with catless DP.

I like the smell.

Only bothers me when it manages to creep inside through the garage door into the house.

I like the smell, but the lady, not so. I had thought about getting a couple of Magnaflow cats. and welding them into my mid-pipe, kinda $, for the n55 I guess you would only need one..

Do you guys think the smell would get better if i replaced the n55 midpipes with OEM N54 ones? If i remember correctly, they have two cats in them.
