Clutch Squeak

After parking my 1M for several months without driving it, I noticed the clutch now squeaks a bit when driving. It's very annoying - especially in first gear when you slowly let it out. I sprayed some lubricant on the release spring but that didn't seem to do it (I'm 6'3" so admittedly getting under there is a complete pain the butt). I took it to the dealer who said it need a $1200 repair (I dont have the list of parts yet, but they basically said it was two plastic pieces rubbing together and they had to buy an entire assembly to replace it). My dealer is pretty honest so I'm confident this isn't complete BS. Anyone have this issue? I'm going to put up on my race ramps this weekend to try and get a better position to see under there.

I noticed something similar and thought it to be the clutch arm rubbing against the foam guide/slot in the cover. I can't remember but I may have put some Velcro (fabric side) on the clutch arm where it rubs. Try that.

I'll try that - although I think it's further up where the pedal connects.

Mine moans on the up stroke. But if I side load it it doesn't.

If I had blow money now I'd do this:

https://europeanautosource.com/ucp-u...tch-pedal.html

But I will probably just settle for puling it and reinstalling it with better lube.

Maybe I can make some bushings for the OEM one.

I did the Rogue Engineering clutch and brake pedal bushings on my E46 M3...not sure if they work for E82. They are a ton of fun to install, though much better with the seat removed. Good luck!!

Turned out to be the release spring. BMW dealer repaired it for $200. Feels like a new clutch!
