2014 M1

Just noticed this on Car & Driver
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...x5_m_interview

They state the two items discussed here in the forum, the 4cyl engine and reduced weight. They state 2014.

Sounds good to me. That gives us between 5-6 years with our current model, which will hold our values up.

I would actually like to see them put a twin turbo V8 in the M3. A high revving turbo 4 in the 1er would be sweet!

The V8 is gone for the M3. My mother's S.O. is a former car executive, and he theorized that BMW would eliminate the V8 and go with a high powered V6, and he was right. BMW has announced this now.

So for those who have the E92 V8 M3, better look at the extended warranty. It is worth keeping.

I had a feeling about that. I think BMW succumbed to the pressures of Audi and MB to put a V8 in the M3. We've seen what the N54 potential can do. Be interesting to see if they use that engine.

BMW is suppose to introduce a SuperSports edition of the 135i in concept form. Its suppose to be a factory freak of some sort.

Well, you have the amount that is owed to pay the car off MINUS the amount the car is currently worth (hope it hasn't depreciated too badly)...usually there will be a decent difference (known as being upside-down)....

So, if you really want to get out of the lease--you pay the difference. for example, my 2007 E92 payoff was around 30K or so when I ordered my 135. The car was worth 27,500 or so....so I ponied up the $2500 and the dealer kept the car. To me, the $2500 was worth paying, because I was so unhappy in the E92 328i after driving the 135 a few times. I just had to get out of it....lol

Sometimes the "bath" you take can be a lot worse....but it never hurts to ask....especially in this economy, where you can negotiate better than when the economy is robust, and people are buying cars. If they quote you a shit value for your 135 or won't budge on the price of whatever you might be looking at--no big deal. You just get in your car and drive home.

Thanks! Not saying I will want to trade my 1er in, but 3 years is a long time between models. We'll have to see if it's worth it. I can understand why you wanted to trade in the 328i after driving a 135i! I just had a new 328i as a loaner and I was so glad to get back in my car.

I doubt BMW will ever use a V6.

Only time will tell.

We've heard that they'd never do turbo 6's, but we have the n54.
We've heard they'd never do turbo 8's but we now have that as well.
We've heard they'd never make an ///M SUV but we now have the X6M & X5M.
We've heard they'd never make a hatchback...
The list goes on and on...

??The V6 was only a rumor of BMW considering it, nothing serious at all. The elimination of the V8 did seem imminent for the m3

a v8

I will bite if they can make it weighing at 2900, then I will stripperella it to 2750. A shaving of 150 seems reasonable.

also want DCT in 2010 model ...I know, how about put all those good things (updates N54, new susp, carbon bits to lower weight, option of M-DCT) - and call it the M1 and be done with it ..reality is it would likely be BMW's best car ever to date ..but I suspect they wouldnt want to hand that trophy to a model starting with 1
