To me the a M car is all about balanced - as long as it got there, it doesn't matter how it gets there. The recent review of the X5M from top gear showing an extremely respectable time around track. You might not think a X5 should ever be an M, but I can tell you BMW has definitely made the X5M worthy of a M badge.
Performance wise the X5 and X 6 have earned the badge! But I think the ///M division is moving away from there roots! They should have produced a CSL edition of the M3 first then launched a 1 series M and then they could dibacle over the SUV M! Jusy my opinion.
