The TT I-6 SUCKS! It is very unreliable and the power delivery is terrible, not to mention the throttle lag that it has. BMW has always been about high revving NA engines, thats why I love BMW. But this new TT trend really blows and takes the fun out of driving.

I really love the low end grunt, but then the N54 really runs out of steam once you get north of ~5000 RPM, depending on the gear....which is right where the NA engines of past ///M models really start to come to life.....

I am guessing that FI is here to stay, even in the ///M division....that being said, if they can make an engine that will rev to 8000 RPM, I don't care if it is FI or not.....

Specifics aside, I would reemphasize reduced weight. I would love to see some addition by subtraction. Add power by upping to the power to weight ratio, and not just trying to move more mass, more quickly. (+1 for LSD, manual tranny, and more neutral handling right out of the box).

Unfortunately, manufacturers really don't have a choice with increasing fuel economy requirements. If you want to build an engine with loads of power and increase fuel economy, forced induction is the route to go.

A puny 1.8L NA engine and a flower vase on the dash

Seriously I don't think these have been mentioned yet:

1. HUD showing nav direction, rpm, speed.
2. electrochromatic windows, instant darkened glass at the touch of a button - a cure for the tint madness that seems to inflict everyone here.
3. and this: http://cnettv.cnet.com/kia-uvo/9742-1_53-50081848.html Enough with iDrive already, it's about damn time BMW licensed MS Sync. Kia just did.

1. Manual & M-DCT options
2. 400 lb weight reduction.
3. M sport suspension and bigger tires all around to solve the understeer at the limit.
4. LSD
5. Convertible.
6. A turbo engine that doesn't have a HPFP failure issue.

Would it even be possible to remove that much weight? A carbon fiber roof and something like aluminum/composite/carbon fiber hood, doors, and decklid can only go so far. Wouldn't you also have to remove "non-essential" items like the A/C, stereo, back seat and use lightweight glass and non-power seats to achieve that kind of weight reduction? Larger wheels and tires also won't help with weight reduction unless they use forged wheels and non-RFT's. A good portion of the suspension is already aluminum as well.

I don't think with the existing body structure. But, it's something I would like in the future. Lighter cars not greater horsepower. It just helps with all of the dynamics.

M3 Coupe is a $58k base (sedan being $55k).

Nonetheless, I'm thinking around a $45k base for this.

Gotcha. I hope to see the the weight in check with the next 1er as well. It absolutely does help with the dynamics.

Now that I'm thinking of it, some sort of orange would be pretty baller on a 1er. Orange+ CF Roof, Mirrors, and front splitter+gunmetal wheels=epic win. I'm thinking 2002ti homage here.

I have to agree with the crowd:

1) choice between 6 speed and DCT
2) suspension with a more neutral bias, and power induced oversteer
3) lightweight wheels that would be easy to clean, and good to look at
4) good looking body kit without "over the top" styling
5) exclusive colors for the "M"
6) a sorted out powertrain without the "HPFP" problems
7) exclusive seats for the "M"
8) LSD/LSD/LSD

I am not saying that I will buy one automaticly when they appear at the dealer, but this M135 has the potential to be a great car!!!
