Or do they wait to do all the prep closer to time of actual delivery and the car just sits out there with the wax on it?
I'm not sure where they store them, but they do an excellent job of taking care of and prepping the cars there, from my experience--better than most dealerships I've had experience with.

Wellllllll, not to scare you, but a search of Hail Storm and Delivery Center might yield some interesting results. My car was involved back in Aug '08

You bet. When I saw your license plate last week, I thought he must have picked-up within the week after me at welt. I picked on 4th.

Yes they did PDR on all affected cars and you couldn't find the damage when they were done. BMW made it right.

not sure if anyone covered this subject before, but what does your 'passenger' do for the day?

Im bringing my brother with me. What does he do all day? Watch me have fun?

I'll assume only the one hotel room ,thats fair. Dinner for him?

Not being cheap, just trying to plan costs.

Your CA can register both of you as the PD covers 2 people. You get transportation from the airport in a 5 series, one room, you both will receive dinner/breakfast/lunch, and both take turns driving the car on the course. You both get the factory tour. I believe you both get to be passengers on the wet course in a 5 series.....driver is one of the pros. I should be doing my PD in Nov, but I've read up on it some.

You're brother will get to do exactly everything you do. Both guests are treated equally.

I had the same question. I am glad that both individuals get treated the same. I have my car scheduled for delivery/PCD around late November early December. Date is not set yet just rough estimate.

1M - VO

It will come delivered with CF Spoiler/Performance Grills!!

Doesn't scare me. Things happen.

If a situation arises like you experienced, I feel much more confident in the Performance Center (BMW) taking care of it properly, than I do in an independently owned dealership.

And, your later post that BMW made it right doesn't do anything to shake that confidence.

Yep, BMW went above and beyond. They actually didn't have to call everyone they did and they could have just fixed the damage without anyone knowing, but they did the right thing. The main point was to say that the cars are not in covered parking (at least they weren't in 2008)

i have a week 37 build which is around the week of September 11th, so I am estimating that the car will be stateside mid to late October. My CA has put in a request for PCD and I am waiting on a date. Judging by the list I am looking at nearly a months wait...

They dont know how long you're going to drive around Europe or how long the line is going be when you drop off at the port. Also, I think the amount of time it could take to clear customs is an unknown.

Well I figured confirming a drop off date lets them know how long, customs clearance makes sense though

PCD versus production date fyi

Hope this isn't viewed as thread-jacking but it seems like those who check this thread would be the most interested (and those who haven't been able to land a car won't want to see it anyway)

My car started production today (), August 24. It had been set for week 36 so I think they're running a little ahead (36 is next week I think).

The PCD date I was offered was Friday, October 28, so its approx. 2 months from the start of build to PCD delivery. I actually am PCD on November 2 because Oct. 28 had a conflict for me.

Congrats to all who are waiting as patiently as possible for their 1M to build!

I'm not sure how the thread host wanted the overall list updated by the rest of us so I didn't - sorry if that's out of sync.

BMW customer loyalty is rolling...!! > 2 months out on both ED and PCD dates. I was considering PCD after my ED date 09/01 ... but at this rate... it would have to be a thanksgiving PCD.

Once your car is "in transit", you can call the performance center and ask for an earlier date. If they have a slot open, they might give it to you if you are nice about it. They will not consider earlier dates until you are on a boat. PM me and I can tell you who I talked to. I got my date moved up by two weeks.

I dont think FAQs and PCD info can live in the same thread as the list of ppl doing PCD

people can search for PCD info ..then we can take the list and make it a dedicated thread ... thoughts serge?

the way I imagined it is seeing the list and then trying to get a date near another 1M owner or seeing the list and knowing who to look out for when you are down there too....le sigh
