335D lump into my 123D 1series
First thing to ask is has it been done?
although the 123d has its awesomeness being just a 2 litre 4 pot twin turbo diesel but i after a remap I'm kind of looking for more already...... hence the lump out of a 335d (M57TU2D30) at a standard 282hp and 580Nm sounds pretty good to me plus then theres the tuning side of that. After a remap 366hp and 734Nm which is pretty impressive! i mean just look at those bloody torque figures! Other thing is price after looking, for some reason they seem to be in the M62 territory so now need to haggle the hell out of the seller to get the price down otherwise it may have to be the M62 what do you all think? Anythings possible with the right amount of money and a good shop. If you're looking to do this cheap, your probably better off buying a 135i or if you want a diesel 335d. The amount of work to put that engine in a 1er and figure out all the wiring for the DME is not going to be cheap.

your right with the anything is possible but doesn't mean you have to spend a arm n leg.... well apart from the main parts like engine, loom ecus of course.
I'm not a bad fabricator and not too shabby with wiring so thats not too much of a problem. I'm also lucky enough to have my own ramp which always helps. my queries are if the drive shafts and tranny will handle those torque figures?

If you can't get the tranny on the 123d to "fit" on the M57, you'll have to have custom drive shafts built if you are going to use the auto tranny off the M57. With all that Tq you'll probably also need upgraded half shafts and a LSD. Also factor in the DME to run the M57. Not sure if you can just reprogram your DME as the harnesses probably don't match up. IMHO it's a lot of work, but if your're willing to put the time in it, it can be done. Not trying to be a debbie downer, just don't expect it to be easy or cheap. |

when looking into the swap i did see that it was a auto only option but i am willing to use the 123d box and look into a possible bell housing swap as i know is possible on the E34 M5 box and E36 M3 box...... research research.
id expect to possibly shorten the propshaft anyway seeing that the M57 is a 6Pot instead of the 4Pot which ill be coming from. ill look into the half shafts as i know they are already uprated from the petrol equivalent. ill look into how the DME hooks up and which signals it need but might not receive seeing that it will now be sitting in a 1 series. all research. again i think the most expensive will be the buying of the swap but the time needed will be the worst part, anyone can put a lump in a engine bay but its the getting it to run is the pain in the arse ohh and don't be a debbie downer
