Is it me, or do the hits just keep on coming? I am really excited about a car the size of a 135i with more power and better handling, and this car SEEMED the perfect vehicle to put me back into a BMW. With the price, lack of DCT, limited colors and production, and now, rumors of carbon fiber editing from the production model... a slightly used M3 or 335is is looking very attractive at the 45k-55k price point of the 1M Coupe. I will hold off on final judgment until final specs are released and an opportunity to drive one! Heres to BF being wrong fro once!!! Cheers

I'm one of the few that isn't interested in the bling, so I'm not bothered if they did use a cheaper product to reduce the weight...... although CF is the best route for serious weight reduction....... however, I think now, that weight reduction isn't a priority..... further helps keeping the performance away from M3 levels I suspect.

Makes me start to wonder just what the price of this 'budget' ///M car really is going to be now....... I can't see it selling well in the UK if it's going to be in the £40k region now, not if it's down-specced to the extent that it could well be....??

I will be more interested now in the redesigned 1,3, RX 7, or pre owned cayman.

I'm in no rush right now. I will make up my mind January in Detroit when I can touch the car with my own hands, unless of course the negative rumors turn out to be true. I must admit, the last E90M3 is looking better right now.

If you do that you still won't be getting a CF roof. Just saying.

I find this info very difficult to believe considering Scott has already filmed the car and has said as recently as a few days ago that it has a CF roof.

I believe it. After reading numerous posts on the forums about people who have no intent to track their cars, why would they still be so concerned about the CF roof?

You can extrapolate that to any area of performance at all

Scott's latest avatar over on German Car Forums is Alpine's rendering featuring a CF roof. Keeping fingers crossed...

Bimmerfile have changed their article title to:

'1M Likely Won’t Feature Major Use of Carbon Fiber'

instead of the definite statement it had earlier in the day. It was misleading to come out with such a strong header earlier really. The content of their article is still the same speculation however.

Still not anywhere close to being able to produce CF parts for the 1M, though.

I keep on hearing things like this said about the car. Seems they are downplaying power increases. Im thinking smaller hp gains than we want, lighter and better handling.

Is it possible they'll offer a CF roof as an option?

I'd say it's probable, but probably in a no-cost manner, as it is on the E92 M3. Standard is the plastic roof, optional is a metal roof with a hole in it and a nice, heavy glass panel in that hole.

Yeah, and a extra-heavy electric motor to open and close it
