2011s prewired for satellite?

Can anyone confirm if the 2011s came pre-wired for the sat module. I am trading my 135i on a 1M without sat and would like to swap it in and have the M coded. Thanks, Derek

Your 1M has Sat radio built into the head unit , adding another module (SDARS) is not possible like the earlier cars(pre 09/09 production).dealer can enable radio with minimal labor (mainly programming time) ,think cost would be around $400-450.

If you remove your sat radio from your trade, your car needs to have it's vehicle coded back to stock.I was in the same boat as you , my 2009 135 sat radio could not be used in the 1M ,so I ordered sat radio from the factory on my 1M.

Why?

I don't mean to sound harsh, but WHY? Short of needing to listen to Howard, WHY would you want Sat Radio? Go with Pandora or MOG and you will get superior sound quality (at least with MOG) and many more choices.

Sat radio was the one option my car did not have and I took it as a sign that the car was for me.

I HATE having to plug the phone in and out the cable. When people call while driving listening to pandora I could nearly wreck trying to get that thing unplugged. I am not sure if my 2011 M has Bluetooth or not.

I would argue it is easier to find out if your car has Bluetooth than it is to add sat radio

Alas, I agree, if you don't have BT, then upgrade away (and pls post here your findings)

mine too was ordered without both

Was told by dealer you cant upgrade to BT. However, yes the SAT is preinstalled, but if the person who ordered it didn't pay $500 to have it then it falls on your lap to go that route. I believe really its 400 + half hour coding labor.

Find out about bluetooth, first. Audio can be streamed over bluetooth, you don't have to plug your phone. I stream over bluetooth all the time.
