Whats Best for Exhaust sound? Sound Clips, Advice?
So just got my 2011 E82 135i M-Sport with the N55. Im wondering what all you guys are running to get some wicked exhaust notes!
Personally I am interested in achieving the crazy pops and bangs you'd get with the PPK install. Will any other tune such as a JB4 or anything else be able to get that popping and burble on overrun and downshifts? Also does is matter what exhaust you are running? I'm currently running a muffler delete with everything else stock. Any input as well as any exhaust clips would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! |

Mhd can enable the overrun to create the burbles but be aware it's horrible on gas mileage and will kill your cat if your not catless or atleast highflow. That said, I have tried it and it sounds cool for a bit but I've since turned it off and now just have a berk race axel back with a catless dp and my god does it sound good.

Hmm, yeah I don't know if I'm willing to sacrifice that much just for some pops haha. Are you running a dp fix? I've been reading up on a lot of dp fix's either not working or causing issues. I really want to run some VSRF catless downpipes but without a solution for the O2's I really dont want my car to start running funny from messed up A/F ratios.

If you get a tune, you don't need a dp fix. The mhd maps already tune the rear o2 out. You won't pass emissions but there's ways around that.

I have overun with a modified Cobb map - Berk mids, VRSF Dp and Berk Street catback. IMHO, it sounds great - not crazy with partial throttle, mad with WOT

I have an 08 135 with an n54. I have catless downpipes, no resonator, stock muffler with PE mod, and a valve right in the place of the resonator. This way neighbors still love me and I can really enjoy it with a straight pipe

For the BEST exhaust sound, you're going to want to start with a Ferrari engine swap.

Decided to go with MHD, just running the 0 Map with optional exhaust burble and such, really happy with MHD and I don't really notice that much of a downgrade in gas mileage. Sounds pretty crazy with the muffler delete. Saving for intake, downpipe, intercooler, charge-pipe and such, then will get into some more aggressive tunes. Thanks everyone for the input!

I just adore my PE(Performance Exhaust). Besides the lovely exhaust sounds... this unit fits perfectly and is of very high quality. I have no regrets. The more miles you drive with the PE, the better the sound gets!!

i have wagner catless dp + stock catter midpipe + BMW PE
i always had BMW PE so i don't know how oem muffler sounds, but BMW PE sounds good overall, and i'd say with adding the wagner DP, it just make it louder and deeper i will try to do a sound clip when possible |

your exhaust would sound better if you put the resonator back on
