I found if I let the revs fall below 4000RPM in 3rd, the DCT will allow kickdown. If I know its going to happen, I rather shift down to 2nd manually. On R-comp tires 2nd gear torque is not too bad, but depends a bit on the conditions. Disabling the kickdown seems a good idea.
