DIY Request: Hood release latch cable

Hello 1addicts,

Just wondering if anyone had a clue on where to begin with replacing the front portion of the hood release latch or "bonnet" as our euro friends call.

It is the cable from the plastic box to the drivers side of the car to the actual latch lock. I have the part, and I was thinking I just disconnect the plastic box part, then remove the latch (somehow) and fish it all through again. I'm just wondering if I'll be able to fish it all through the way it came with ease.

Let me know if someone has anything! I don't even think it is in the Bentley manual.

I have not done this but was just fishing wires through enclosed areas of my boat last weekend. I've also fished wires in houses. If the "old" cable is still in the car, I would want to use it to pull the new one into position. There is almost certainly at least one area that will be a bit of a problem. Cycling back and forth may allow you to get around the obstacle. I would also trace the route of the cable as well as you can to anticipate issues.

Did it last week. All is good. I'll edit this thread as a DIY. Pretty simple and took an hour or less. Hardest part is getting the new cable through the hole in the firewall.

Sorry everybody! Just in school at the moment. I should have a little extra time on the weekend to take pictures of what to do.

Thanks for the patience. If you're desperate for help (like I was), then please PM me and I'll help you

Thanks!
