Real World Milage
What sort of milage are people getting in their 125 and 135s in heavy traffic? I may end up with a job with a long commute and the XR8 drinks like a sailor on shore leave.
What L per 100 are people getting in stop start traffic ?? This may end up pushing me over the line in convincing Mrs XA to let me have my beemer  |

I'm averaging 10.5 with a mix of stop/start and freeway driving. I do an average of 350-400km a week - sometimes more if I can .
To me it's all relative. In a 135i you may use a bit more but you get there a helluva lot quicker .

I reset the 'meter' this morning and, after 20 minutes of stop/start driving to the office, I was mid-13's. I expect that to drop to about 10's by the time I get home tonight. I'll be running up and back down to the end of the freeway tonight, so I expect I'll be in the 9's by tomorrow morning.
The XR used to average about 17 and I struggled to get it down to 10 on a 300km run, so I'm more than happy.

Mine has settled down to around 11.5L/100km. That's stop start mainly with some highway cruising when I get a chance. I don't think I drive it without a WOT moment or two I just enjoy it way too much.

14.2. 90% of my driving is to and from work, rarely getting out of 3rd gear. I'm using BP Ultimate and I'm only getting around 350km per tank, and I'm really not happy about it. It's certainly nowhere near the efficiency BMW claimed it would be.

I'm getting about 12.5 in the burbs and this drops to about 9 on the open road. I can still feel the car loosening up, so it may improve. Did 17 for one tank. Heh Heh.

I'm near 21 in the XR8 at the moment.
If I am lucky enough to get the job it'll be Punt Road traffic ( anyone in Melbourne will know how crap that is ). I am quite surprised at cozza's mileage, I was going to consider a 125 to cut down consumption even further. I'd be happy with 15 or thereabouts out of a 135. |

Hey Cozza - Try another fuel. BP are still selling their "winter blend" which is s@#t. Many of the WRX car club have had issues over the past few months with BP and the problems were solved by switching fuel (I have used Mobil for the last 2 months)
. In another month or so I may switch back to BP depending on feedback.

Interesting. Thanks for the tip. I'll give Mobil a shot and see if it makes a difference...

Whilst on the topic of fuel consumption, are you guys using premium or ultimate in your beasts? Thus far, i've only been feeding mine premium (shell).

Exclusively BP Ultimate 98. Once used 91RON in my E46 and had pinging - ever since then I've stuck to 98RON.

I presume there's a knock sensor in the 135 (if not 125) that detects pinging & retards ignition if too low an octane fuel is used? I thought I read somewhere that 98 was recommended but the N54 would operate quite well on 95 -with slightly reduced power.

I'm getting around 11.2 with combined driving and 98Ron. Previously had a BA Mark 2 XR8 with numerous mods and averaged around 16.4 on 98Ron for the same driving.
Best out of a tank was 530 kms of mostly highway driving. Hope that helps convince the wife XA Coupe! |

The "rumour" going around is that it MAY be available here early next year. The business case is being reassessed as a result of the luxury tax and the 7 lp100k exemption which may make the price feasable here.

Excellent! It definitely falls under 7l/100km. And the price here for the 123d is almost the same as the 125i. But I drove both and the diesel feels so much faster.
