SSK--Just installed. Great result.
Fellow 1'ers,
I purchased my first BMW back in March. 2008 128i Vert w/MT--an absolute cream puff. The plan is to not only enjoy the open air but to autocross the car in TN Region SCCA. I have been reading the forums here for weeks deciding what mods to make to mine. Following lots of threads on the short shift kit I bought the stock kit from my local dealer during Mem Day Sale. Had it installed yesterday--and I am so happy with it! To me it makes a huge difference. Thanks for all the good input. My next mod is the CDV delete. Can't wait. First SOLO autocross in 10 days. Love this forum! BTW--my dealer installed my SSK at NO CHARGE because their online site quoted an install labor price that was less than 1/2 of what their service dept actually quoted me when I made appt. When I complained and said I'd take it to a local shop to have it done, the service manager called me back and offered the install FREE to win my business. Great way to start off my relationship with local dealer. Total price: $166.12 + tax. $ well spent! |

I can't understand why BMW doesn't make it stock. But I also can't understand how ridiculously complicated iDrive is. They do so many things so well. And yet some things so poorly. At least they have real driving dynamics down to a fine science!

I agree with above on CDV stuff. SSK is a personal choice. For me its a science experiment, using a stock n54 stick. Will update soon
