Any idea what OE suspension combo this would be?
So, the springs are not yellow thus they aren't Performance Package springs, but the ride height of this car has always seemed lower than factory M-sport package, compared to images and similar vehicles I've seen (2008 135i).
I need to replace the dampers all around, they've leaked out. I want to do a cup kit instead of putting OE parts, but the thought of going down another 1.5-2" is unfathomable to me, if this is indeed the factory ride height. The fronts rub on my 10mm-lower-offset winter wheels over larger bumps as it is. (And yes I'd love to do the M3 arms and subframe bushings at the same time, but it's not in the cards at the moment) Thoughts? I have a few more pics from various other angles if helpful. Any help much appreciated! |

That does look a little lower than stock, but it's not unreasonably low. If you get a cup kit, it shouldn't lower it too much unless you get springs that are meant to lower the car.
A cup kit is meant to lower, but still keep it comfortable. Better handling. I would also recommend to get proper offset wheels for the winter. I had your problem in the past and after getting some proper wheels, no problem in the winter. Let us know what you do!

You can tell if they are BMW springs because the front springs will have a little white tag on them showing a spring code. The spring code "D6" for the 135i fronts, or maybe "D4" for 128i front springs. Rear springs will have code printed on them such as "L2", or "L3". The codes can vary from car to car. Search google for pictures of 135i M-sport springs and you will see examples.

Honestly, looks like worn out stock suspension. I'd just get some replacement dampers, Koni or Bilstein, and put the springs back on. Replace the shock mounts in the rear (upper and lower) as well as the front top hats while you're at it.

Hey Mike! I'm going to agree with the rest of the guys here, looks like worn out OEM suspension components.....I don't think something conservative like BMW Performance (yellow) springs or a Bilstein B12 kit will be much lower than what you have now.....going to reply to your email separately with details...I went with a B12 kit...
